We got the R11 update, with the bug fixes around timezones and some shortcuts for LKA etc. Carplay improvements. But still have 5kph increments on the cruise control.
I've left a couple of messages trying to get a call back from local service dept to find out if R11 is available for my Excite 51 but still waiting for a reply... So the SE SR in your profile is the Excite, is that correct?

Hi I am Excite 51 as well waiting for update, as dealer said they will call me when available?

Thanks Leon :)

Here's the info about the update for the Forward Collision Warning (FCW) system in Australian MG4's

Hopefully it fixes the scary phantom braking issue

Before anyone in the UK or Europe asks about their MG4 I have no idea if a similar update will be available for you, sorry

Good to know. You mention “Owners are kept up to date with essential and optional software updates through a combination of marketing EDMs’ if they’ve opted in”. How do owners opt-in? I’ve received marketing emails from MG after using a contact form on the website, but was never sent anything by them or the dealer about the OPD update. I had to contact the dealer and ask for it.

(And using the chat on the MG website always ends with “I can get you your local dealer details. What’s your phone and email address” 🤦‍♂️ )

After been gone for 3 months I finally got my leasing paperwork in place and went to look at a Excite 51, hoping to drive it home in 2-3 days.

Still found slight bulge in undertray and I mentioned it to the dealer. I go back home and sent them a photo from another thread where they installed a bracket across the undertray and the dealer said that's what they're going to do. Hopefully that's not just some sales bs.

I'm also gonna ask them about how to opt into the firmware updates when I pick up the car. Currently have a long list of things to check.

Anyway, without going through 20 pages of posts, can someone let me know what is the current firmware version for the Excite?

There's no way to know. There's lots of different updates for a bunch of different modules. My car has had quite a few updates and the version displayed for the infotainment system has never changed.

Looks like the latest MPU for the Excite 51 is still R05.
Not sure about MCU as I don’t have the forward collision detection fix, but I know after the one-pedal-driving update mine became -125.1.3.0

Mine showed that version before the OPD update and it stayed the same after I got it. These version numbers tell us pretty much nothing.
Well it depends on what you want it to tell you doesn’t it. The MPU version for instance tells quite a lot when it comes to all the changes that have been made to CarPlay/Android Auto, Shortcut Buttons, OSD, ACC, Air Con, Quick access to LKA/Power Off etc..

But if you have issues with e.g. phantom braking then yeah it tells you nothing.

One of the updates I got changed the ACC button to do increments of 1km/h instead of 5km/h (now a long press does 5km/h - the behaviour switched). The behaviour of ACC and TJA also seemed to somewhat improve. No version changes for that update. 🤷

Still have around 30 pages to read, so hopefully I'm not asking something that has already been answered.
I bought a stat write off MG4 from Pickles Adelaide around a mth ago. I thought the odometer was saying 268km, but now it might have been the distance still remaining in the battery.
No battery connection, drive or steering at the moment, the crash ECU has locked it all down.
Does anyone know if unplugging the crash ECU will sort the problem the way it does in the model before?
More questions for later, like how to get a DC charging plug and if the charging can be done direct from solar.

T1 Terry
Hi Terry. If the MG is like most EV's unplugging the ECU won't change anything. Typically a crash will blow a safety fuse within the battery. In a lot of cars it's known as a pyro fuse. There will likely be a number of flags In various ECU's set to prevent power up. Unfortunately there probably isn't much tech information available in the public domain for the MG4 yet to assist with recovery.

Sept delivery, have the same but honestly I don't thing the version of the Infotaiment system really tells us much more than what version the infotainment system is using.

There are so many other systems in the car and differences between models that I don't think we can really know what software versions our cars are running.
Update: today I had the firmware updated on my Essence. Infotainment system updated to R11. The dealership didn't even know that existed. I've supposedly received updates to the Speed limit detection and braking ECU's as well. I will report with all the versioning changes tomorrow once I've had a chance to check them.
Seems the dealerships know bugger all about the updates. All that said the infotainment system seems a lot better now. Touch screen working better.

So I got the camden grey today, checked the undertray and they added a steel bracket across the undertray seam. It definitely closed the warping of the undertray cover. The sales guy said it’s a general fix across all the dealerships now, so anyone still got a warped undertray, maybe call up your dealer and see what they can do.

Car drives well. The only niggle is there’s a bit of rattle on the driver side door. Anyone know a simple fix? Silicone lube around the seal? Or pull the plastic cover off and use adhesive foam?

Good question , since I'm not an MG4 owner I don't know how you'd opt in

Were owners of the Aussie excite 51 emailed to let them about the free software update enabling OPD , for the small batch of cars that didn't have it enabled?

I asked the dealer today and he said all updates will still be done at the dealer during service. No OTA available. Unless it’s an urgent update, we have to wait at least every 2 years.
