MG4 Spotted! : Was it you?

Just seen two MG4s the same grey colour as mine, nose to tail not a foot between them, going through Emsworth on the old A27; the rear one a 73 plate. They were on a transporter, so for a brief moment I thought one had bricked but they were new and I didn't bother waving..

    My Ownership Log: MG4 Trophy

Hmm, slightly worrying! Took my SE in for a software update, breather, etc. and I've had three warning emailed from SAIC: one for brakes and then two for airbag.. The timings would indicate this is probably the software update unless they are drawing lots as to who has to call me! ;-)

    Farewell MG4 Trophy

Boys, boys.. I'm very happy with my MG4 if far less so with my local MG dealer: other posts by me here if interested.. My car was bricked back on June 15th which I resolved myself (battery disconnect route and a trickle charger) but when I took my car in as the 12v voltage declined they gave...

MG4 some basic (I hope!) questions....

Bear in mind that to get the cheap overnight rate of 7.5p on Octopus you need to accept a slightly higher rate during the day. The bill will give you your average rate and it is that that is best used for a true cost. But the more you use at night the better. I have a low mileage and in the...

(quite) long trip this weekend - any advice/guidance?

Don't forget the new Chargers at Leeming Bar and at the Jet garage next to Lidl at Catterick. Had my first long trip from Hampshire to Sheffield and then the Dales two weeks ago and had no issues as there are alternatives now. On my way home misrouted and couldn't stop where I had in mind but...

    MG4 Range

The existance of MG4 models with two different ranges underlines that for all the talk of some people, "I need 400 mile range", for many of us we don't or the optimum solution is not to carry around a massive battery that we'll only fully utilise once or twice a year. Due to caring duties (and...

MG4 Spotted! : Was it you?

Last week in my village I went to dump some stuff off at the charity shop. I pulled in to park in front of another grey MG4, which might have caused some confusion to the other driver if they'd turned up.. There's plenty of other coloured MG4s around here courtesy of Richmond Portsmouth.

Owners Manual Rev 2 updates - Beware!

I've done some translation, Italian to English, and it can be quite difficult where you don't even know some of the English technical vocabulary, goofleflump being a very good example! So I now know a fair bit about the process of steel tube making and downhill ski racing.. It's not even nuance...

Alarm system switch off on ferries?

Thanks guys, looks like I needn't worry. It's just that I've been on ferries (or even neighbour's cars when it's very windy) listening to an annoying and persistent alarm and I don't want to be that person with a flat battery and keeping everyone awake.

Alarm system switch off on ferries?

I was leafing through my paper MG4 manual (thanks Sloucher!) but couldn't find how to switch off the alarm system to avoid it going off on a bumpy crossing. Portsmouth to Wooton Creek was fine, but given I've crossed the channel bouncing out of my bunk on a ferry (let alone in a number of...

    Visiting France

How do they know that you are or are not a customer? Do you have to let reception know, or what? Either way I suspect there is no minimum spend and nipping in and buying nibbles for the journey, some charcuterie and a few rolls is probably going to be enough? As an observation from someone who...

MG4 is a huge leap forward

Perspective is all. My first car was a very battered £100 Marina and since then I've had various run of the mill hatchbacks which I kept until ~12 years old. My first car with cruise control was my ZS EV and now the MG4 which is a far better car, although obviously SUVs are more popular, which...

Lane Assist Trying To Kill Me!

And.. If I hadn't gone into MG for my two year service for my MG ZS EV I wouldn't have come out a week later with a new MG4, having received more for the ZS than I paid! Just put 9% into the battery from free solar and when I went to unplug checked that I have the LKA switched to off and it...

Lane Assist Trying To Kill Me!

Whether it's because I have an standard range MG4 off the first boat (sheer chance, I might add) or haven't had the safety software update (note to self) I've never noticed any lane keeping assistance at all. Collision warnings and the odd unneeded braking, but no steering twitches and that's on...

    London to Wales on M4?

I didn't manage to catch up with my friend in the Yorkshire Dales last year but in reviewing the route again this year from near Portsmouth it's good to see new hubs have opened up and the options increasing, often just off the motorway. So those coming South can give Scotch Corner a miss and...

How many MG4 owners are new to the world of EVs?

I'm unexpectedly on my second EV as I jumped for an early ZS when the local dealer was doing a good deal. Then after my two year service I unexpectedly found myself the owner of an MG4 SR when they made me an offer I couldn't refuse.. A combination of retirement, saving up and wanting an EV for...

    MG4 Reduction Gearbox Oil Leak

Well, my name on my football team chat is 'Granny Sue' seeing as I'm 50 years older than the youngest member of the team, and I find it very dificult to be offended, although some people do like to be.. :) What was great today was the ref, who was 82! Deaf as a post. :ROFLMAO: As for...

    MG4 Reduction Gearbox Oil Leak

Well, I was still in my kit when I got home (grass roots changing rooms sometimes don't exist..) so I got down and had a brief look when I got home but a cursory inspection looked OK. Tomorrow in decent light and with a torch may be different..
