Cyberster Software Versions

The dealer had to do the upgrade via another module not directly to the infotainment system.

When I try playing this test via my iPhone and a cable I get nothing during the subwoofer test.

Do others get any sound during the subwoofer test.

Yes, I get sound during the subwoofer test!

I've just had a door proximity sensor replaced; when dropping the car off at the dealer I mentioned my disappointment with the sub-woofer, so they performed a test and they say it's working. I have the R31 software but they won't update it unless they agree that there's a problem.

Get a list of what the update fixes including the MG Pilot options that apparently let you save some settings maybe. Then tell them you want those fixes. Or try another dealer.

When I try the test at this point I do not get any sound. Try it and if you get no sound show your dealer.

Finally, it worked 🥳.
After the sixth attempt, a specialist from MG Europe managed it.
This guy had the latest software, as well as the latest equipment (tablet and wireless transmitter) to download and upload/install it 🖥️.
Now the version R34 software is finally installed, and I have to say, the sound has improved considerably 🎶🔊🎶.
The rear speakers are now audible, but not intrusive.
You're now more immersed in the sound because it's coming from all directions.
Everyone's happy again! 🤗

This is great news! Can you share some more info about what MG location made it work? MG the Hague was not kept in the loop and needs some more info to help my Cyberster out (:

Another update was released via OTA in China. Could it be R35?! Its obviously going to be reviewed before any European release. Not sure if UK will receive the same one and when....

They have OTA in China? Also managed to receive R34 now, but not tested yet, as somebody felt the need to ram me on a red light... will take around 4 weeks to "recover".

Hi I have my Cyberster since December 2024 and recently got the software upgraded from R31 to R 34. I was also told initially by the dealer where I bought it that it wasn’t available in Ireland but subsequent enquiries directly to MG Ireland said it was possible so I arranged to go to a different dealer and advised them to check with MG Ireland which they did and carried out the upgrade with no issues it took 2.5 hours. The MG Pilot custom is now available to use but I didn’t notice any change from rear speakers.

Upgraded now to R34, took 3 tries but, me also dont find any change in rear speakers.

May I ask what exactly the "MG pilot custom" includes?

You can choose what is on or off in MG pilot, and your settings go on with one push on MG pilot custom. It still wont stay on after power off. Atleast MG custom is on top of pilot screen.

Thank you, which dealer did you bring it to?

I bought mine from Frank Keane (I wouldn't buy from them again), and they told me there was no software update.

Hi I also bought mine at Frank Keane who were also unaware of any software update.
As I live in Wexford I arranged to have it done at Doyle Motors MG dealer in their Courtown branch. You need to inform them that the rear speaker issue is known and under warranty and that R34 version software is required to assist improve it. In this way there is no charge for the software.
I was the first Cyberster that they had dealt with in Courtown. If you want to chat let me know. Regards Ronan

My Cyberster is in for investigation now (Richmond dealership) - reported the speaker issue and also steering nudges even when indicating off some junctions. The nudges are a pain because they happen at the junctions I use most frequently - only way to stop them is turn off lane keeping. I demonstrated an instance of the nudge to one of their service engineers. I'm hoping MG UK will accept an upgrade from R31 to R34. Worst case, at least configured driver "assist" features can be disabled quickly and easily with R34; plus maybe a tad more bass from the speaker. Ideally, the steering nudge behaviour will be fixed, plus decent bass. I'll report back on the outcome!

We all hope for a happy ending to this scary adventure 🤗.

Unfortunaly R34 did nothing to sound, only thing it did is MG Pilot custom, but it seems that when using that the unwanted features like overspeed, lane keeping, wont stay off, they come back on while driving some time. Driving with lane keeping is ….

Well, car back and they say they applied 2 fixes: one for the rear speaker; one for the lane keeping nudges. What didn't get applied is R34. I won't get a chance to check if there's any noticeable difference until next week now, as I'm away. From the previous post, it doesn't sound like MG Pilot Custom is that reliable anyway!

It still seems perverse not to update all system software at the same time, but that appears to be the MG way. Very pleased to have my Cyberster back to drive - I do love it.
