This question has been asked a few times ... the answer is: it depends on your local council. They may allow it under certain circumstances (e.g. using a hi-vis cover such as what you've shown, or by installing a cable gulley), or they may not allow it at all. Only you can know by contacting them. 🤷‍♂️

And how much your neighbours like you. My council ignores people doing this but in our street we have ASB issue with one guy who complains to the council about everything.

Might be a good idea to check with your home insurance company too; i.e. with regard to your home-owners liability cover should someone (e.g. a blind person) have an accident?

To be on the safe side, as said check with the Council. If they say it's ok, then that set up, you've got, is fine. Unfortunately you can't do owt, about arsehole neighbours moaning. 🙄🤪

Or alternatively, just do it, coz personally, to me that looks fine. I've seen I few of them, and you'd have to be a dozy Git, to trip over that. 🙂👍

It's up to you.

On closer inspection, looks like it can be bolted into the pavement - that should reduce any tripping hazard.

Also, just saw this guidance note...
The problem with that is it is fixed in a position with the cable in place, with the plug permanently exposed at the roads edge, and it requires that you are able to park in exactly the same position each time.

Anything proud could trip a blind person, elderly person or infant. The highway authority (usually the council) has to approve your individual solution but some enlightened ones automatically approve certain available solutions. Check out Charge Gulley and Kerbo Charge.

You could try these guys, nothing to lose :-

That's really clever. One thought occurs to me as just this week we had the pavement dug up by Openreach for next door's landline problem. Would the contractors put it back?
