EV opposition in the media is ramping up

For anyone else who's a bit slow on the uptake and trying to make sense of today's BBC article about the 2030 petrol and diesel ban:

The article is about UK sales targets, but near the end it gives some numbers about UK production figures. It's related information and not good news for British manufacturing, but nothing to do with the article headline.

The numbers in the item referenced by @tsedge above would have been more useful.

Has there been any official news on the cause of the lorry transporter fire on the M5 the other day. MSM seem to be blaming the BYD EVs without any evidence before the authorities have released their verdict.

Nothing official. These were brand new cars with blade batteries, sitting switched off minding their own business. Who thinks one of them decided to catch fire? (A fire that was quite quickly and easily put out, by the way.) The smart money is on the trailer's brakes having caught fire, maybe binding.

I thought I'd read somewhere the trailer brakes were binding and the fire started there, spreading to the cars.

Mmmm. Your probably right. But not according to the anti EV thread, masquerading as the The EV fact thread. On another forum I'm on.
It was obviously the EV cars fault. And took hours to put the fire out, and the motorway was closed for 12 hours. Where as had it been ICE cars, it would have been open in an hour. 🙄🤪

Ah yes, but what made the trailer brakes overheat so much eh, eh ?
Obviously the extreme weight of those electric cars caused excessive strain on the trailer brake parts.
NAH, the batteries are almost empty and therefore much less weight than when charged LOL.

Its the same everywhere. Anytime there is a car fire it brings out all the ev haters even though its obvious by the car its a petrol car. Ive stopped having discussions with the ev haters. No matter what you say to them its always evs are bad. But hydrogen cars arent to some of them, even though hydrogen cars are a bomb and also drive on electric over hydrogen.

I can just imagine the meeting a few years back between big oil and legacy auto. Scared sh**tless about the threat of EVs. The focus group comes up with what we can do better, 'we can travel 700 miles on a tank and fill up in 5 seconds and do another 700', and there started a whole industry of FUD.

We could do a quick poll.... How often has your EV exploded and caught fire and have you installed a fire-suppression system outside your house to manage this better in future?
Never that I’ve noticed.
Yes I have a hose point on the wall opposite.
