Granny home charging instead of Type 2?

Just change a 10A socket to 15A

There's clearly cultural differences at play here. In the UK we have some relatively short period EV tariffs that make running an EV relatively inexpensive despite our high electricity costs. For example, one runs for four hours each night at ~ 10p/kWh rather than the standard ~ 30p/kWh. People become obsessed by only charging during those four hours and being able to get as much range as possible during that short time. If 15A is 15miles range gained for each hour charging then clearly 32A is 30miles, or over four hours an additional 60 miles.

Yes...you are correct as in Oz there are various electricity plans available where some companies charge a flat rate regardless of time of day and others have a peak, shoulder and low rate with the low rate at night for normally anything up to 9 hours so obviously that is the time to charge regardless of which method used. Solar panels allow a feed in tariff but it is not as good as it used to be and sadly power costs are steadily on the increase at this time.

There's no need for a home charger in Australia (especially if you have solar).
Just change a 10A socket to 15A (cost about $400 with an electrician), and charging your car is now 50% faster.
You just top the car up every few days, just like a mobile phone.

EDIT: Decent home chargers probably cost a lot more (purchase and install) in Australia than the UK though. YMMV.
Noted, yes things are clearly different in other countries.
