How to check how much battery you bring back from regen?

Hi I have my MG4 standard edition 51kwh and the one feature I love is the one foot pedal however how do I check how much battery life I regenerate back to the battery? I want to know how good my regen skills are ?
How do I see this on the dash or? I really appreciate everyone's help.

Off topic - is there a way to safe car settings permanently? For example I want to set eco mode but everytime I start my car it goes back to normal mode

Click on the Battery tile on the Infotainment screen, then click on the Energy Consumption tab. You should see a pie chart showing energy usage for Driving, AC and Others, and Regen Benefits; and these are available as Since Start (i.e. since the start of the current trip) and Since Last Charge.

You also get a live indicator on the dash, bottom right of the display is the regen level setting, and next to it, it displays how much power is being consumed, or being sent back to the battery. Minus numbers in green are regen, white positive is power being consumed. The bigger the green number, the more regen, -25 is the maximum it will display and this will include braking as well as regen. White positive maximum is 100.

You can work out approximately the range gain from the 'miles/kWh' indication on the driver's display. Multiply the regen benefit by the indicated number. Another way of looking at it is to multiply the regen benefit by the price you pay for a kWh when you charge the car; that's how much you've benefited.

EDIT: Note this number changes over time. I average ~4 on long distances but vary between 2 and 15 on startup and short distances.

All right! they explained it well. Then there is another calculation to be made. Look at the range on the steering wheel dashboard. Example: It shows you 100 miles and 30%. You travel, and you regenerate often. You do 5 miles and afterwards, it always shows you 30% and 100 miles (if you are good, both the level and the range increase, e.g. 31% and 102 miles. This means that you have travelled 5 miles and you have not paid, and indeed, you have recouped on the recharging charge.

I pay 7p when I charge my car so 5 x 0.07 = 0.35 miles gained? Is that right?

No. You have saved 35p in 'fuel' charges. As I said above you must look on the driver's display to see how many miles per kWh the car believes you are achieving.( Think miles per gallon.) Unfortunately the only image I have of the display is before a journey and the figure is reset but you can see the units displayed after the dashes.



Using the folder button (middle) on the right side of the steering wheel you can see the appropriate figure 'since start', 'since last charge' and 'accumulated' by toggling the righthand button up/down. If you do not see this data you may be displaying one of the other pages and after pressing the folder button you will need to toggle left/right to find it.

This shows the miles/kwh as 4.2 on my car now. So if 5 kwh is saved the miles gained is 5 x 4.2 = 21.0 miles.

To get your figure you need to multiply your miles/kwh figure by 5.

I have never looked at the Energy Consumption Tab, in 16 months and 11,458 miles, until just now. It shows that I, too, have regenerated 5kWh since the last charge, and approximately 70 miles driven. So that works out that I have driven 70 miles but regenerated the equivalent of 21 miles! As Victor Meldrew would say "I don't believe it!". Another software bug?

I think there's so much information that you can analyse the question is, "Is it worth it"? The important thing is the amount of charge in the battery, and how far it will take you.

In the absence of the algorithm that works out the regen figure and how it is incorporated into the displayed consumption figures you are right to be sceptical. I have not seen more than 2kW regen after a long journey in my Trophy. I have seen the battery percentage go up and range increase when I drop down from my hilltop to the river valley but lose it when I return. @Sophiameow's figures do look strange with 50% regen.

Yeah regen is great, but the benefits are already accounted for in the range of the car.

It is why you get better range in the city than on the dual carriageway (where there is little to regen).

Those who do a better job with the regen will get a bit more range and those who do less well will get a little bit less.

No, that's the AC and other measurement. It's just that the connecting line is never located very well.
