Not here much these days but would like to record the fact that my (racing?) green XPower continues to deliver. Nothing has ever gone wrong with it since I took delivery in Q3 2023. Still love the styling. The power doesn't get old. I use it as a local runabout, rarely going more than 40 miles in one direction (for long trips we have a large estate). I watch Chinese EV news and still haven't seen anything to compete in the electric (properly) hot hatch niche, save perhaps for the Zeekr X, which I haven't driven and anyway I'm sure costs more.

Thank you MG for making the car I always hoped the EV revolution would bring.

Mine also, zero issues since I picked it up in February, always a pleasure to drive and costs less than peanuts to run.

I've just come back from a week Oop North with my parents, driving their Hyundai i30. It had some plus points (other than the obvious one that it's a tiny bit bigger than the X) - noticably better handling and brakes, more than double the range, and a physical button on the wheel which can turn off the LKA with a single long press.

But... OMG it was slow. I though my dad was just not revving it enough (it's a 1.0 3-cylinder turbo with mild hybrid), but, nope, so little torque it couldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding. Changing gear mostly just changed the pitch of the racket it made - though I will say I enjoyed actually doing gear changes again. Terrible visibility (especially for over the shoulder checks).

Getting back in the X afterwards really emphasized how effortlessly it delivers torque... and how good the visibilty in every direction but directly behind is - I really wasn't expecting the latter!

I might copy your signature … MG4 Xpower - zero vibes, zero problems
Generally loving mine
No problem but you might upset 1 or 2 people on here who claim to be the fountain of all 'knowledge' but in reality carry quite a large bag of sour grapes when proven wrong time after time;)

What else is there left to say? never fails to bring a smile. At the price there's still nothing to even come close. Also to silence some of the handling doubters, best checkout the youtube comparism with the new Fiat Abarth ev, (I think it was with WhatCar) even though he thought the Fiat was more nimble, he much preferred the handling of the Xpower.

Always makes me laugh when the,
X Power's handling is mentioned, as in it's poor, it isn't. It's more than good enough for average folks, (us) talents. 🙄🤪🙂👍

I dont think its poor but it lacks alot of refinement over other AWD cars mine seems to torque steer often coming out of bends and putting down the power ..

It kinda floats across the lanes at times under big acceleration from take off ..

Doesnt feel like there is enough down force pushing the front wheels on to the road or it squats to much leaving less traction at the front

In general for a car with its so called 50:50 balance at times it doesnt feel balanced , could it be the torque vectoring that is pulling the car around in weird positions ..

Im not claiming to be a race car driver or a expert on car dynamics but it feels off to me when i compare it to my 2012 s60 Volvo t6 awd ..

I cant quite put my finger on what it is ???

Sure 250kw from the Volvo VS 320kw from the X power but sheer power shouldnt always be a factor

The Volvo felt more planted to the road in all conditions than the MG

( that said 70k aud for the 2012 Volvo s60 t6 r design with the polestar tune in 2012 VS 55k aud for the MG4 X power in 2024 )

I could argue 12 years of tech VS the Volvo the X power should be a better car !!

Is it me asking for more than what the car is capable of doing or expecting more than what it is capable of doing..

For the average driver who wants run around town and have a some what spirited drive now and then yes the X power is great .. 100% agree salty !!

But anyone who asks for more from it , its just not there ..

Im not sure what would fix it wider tread , lowered springs , lighter weight ( lighter wheels ) adjustable shocks or is just chassis design in where the problem lies which obviously cant be fixed ..

I would also feel more comfortable spending the money on trying different mods and things to better refine the car if the vibration and subsequent fix didnt frighten me off from doing anything extra ( lowering will change the angle of the drive shafts, lighter wheel could have some adverse effect etc etc )

I dont what MG to throw the car is modified warranty null and void which at this point is a given considering the issues the UK are having with MG warranties ..
