That should be your first port of call.
I would not rely on any 3rd party key vendors at all.

Dealer is the simplest option but check your insurance because I'm pretty sure mine covers lost keys.

For security, take it to the dealer.
They will reprogramme your old key and the new key to the car so the lost key can't be used.

That depends on the policy. You would almost certainly have to declare it as a claim at next renewal though (when doing a price search - as everyone should be doing rather than just accepting a renewal).

The trick that works for me is to have an AirTag on the same key ring. If I get more than a couple of hundred metres from my key my phone will warn me and show its location on a map (unless it’s at home or some other place I’ve flagged as safe). And when I get close, it will tell me the direction and distance, and I can make it beep.

I just use my phone and I've not actually used the 'key' since the first week of ownership ( October).. I just wish the app key was as fast as Tesla as it puts MG to shame!

When anyone with a samsung phone goes anywhere near the tag (or vice versa) it pings it and gives the location on the map ( using samsung SmartThings find). I have it in the car and can pinpoint it at anytime. Handy when it's in the dealership etc. to check it's not being used as a runabout...or by my daughter!

If your SmartTag is outside of this range, you can still locate it using offline finding in SmartThings Find. SmartThings Find uses other users Galaxy devices, in the Galaxy Find Network, to help you locate your SmartTag, making sure that your valuables can be found no matter where they are.

I don't think it's as suitable as the Tabcat for keeping tabs on a pet. It's far from a given that anyone with a Samsung phone would go near him, and the longer range of the radio tracker is probably more reliable for that purpose. On the other hand, I should probably investigate further.
