MG4 Software Update Thread

Hi Rossco and welcome to the group.

I have found that the A/C temp on mine is not the same as any other car I have driven. I usually set mine to 24 degrees C on other cars, the MG4 I have it on 26 degrees C instead.

Have not actually used the Sat Nav at all, well not the OEM one. Most use other navigation apps. In mine I have Waze, Apple, Google and Plugshare. All have pro's and cons. If I were doing more long trips I would subscribe to ABRP and use it.

At the moment I am trying to get my software updated. Seems there are differences in various markets. I am dealing with MG Australia.

Ive just Purchased a Sep 2025 pre Reg Xpower. What software version should this be on. Seems to be blowing out cold air at 22deg C. Also Sat Nav seems to be way out of date
Initial 4s you had to set the heating about 4/5° higher than you wanted to get that heat, so for 22 set 26/27.
That has been fixed with an update,

I hope to God the Bluetooth issue is fixed, it' worse than Clippy from the 90's

I see that the Bluetooth issue has been fixed but, now we've got that stupid brightness problem back again:

Do you reckon the MG coders all have the same mouse mat as me?

Honestly, I don't think the car's gone for a single day in the last 3 years without something not working properly. It pains me every time I get in it. And on the hottest and coldest day's, when you actually need remote climate control, the pissing thing doesn't work.

Just back from the MG Service Centre.
Apparently there were two modules which should have been updated before the car was sold back in Nov '23. The AEB module was also meant to be updated. Apparently it causes the sudden deceleration when it detects oncoming traffic. The Tyre Pressure Monitor also had a known fault.
All modules are now the latest versions. Tried the ACC on the 10km drive home. It now changes in 1kph increments and does not slow down in the middle of corners. So far it seems a lot better behaved.

A slightly longer drive today. The software updates do make it much better to operate. A lot less lane alarms and no taking control of the wheel.
Takes a bit of getting used to the 1kph increment but I will and like it. Hoping the High Beam control will also be improved, but that may be too much.

My car was in for all software updates on Wednesday. The ELK button was not created in the quick drop down menu even though I requested it. This was an early AEB update which may have been superseded with the full LKA etc update. I haven't checked if the route planner was updated in the Infotainment system yet but there is a change to LKA. I deliberately ran off the lane & there were plently of beeps and a less intrusive steering tug than before. haven't checked whether it doesn't slow for corners. I never really noticed this on the motorway anyway. It was sort of useful on B roads but was not consistent so could not be relied upon.

The ACC increments in 1km steps. To be honest I'd got used to the original 5km steps so this is less convenient now. If I now set the ACC 3km too high or low for the actual speed limit I need 3 presses to get to the limit. Before it was 1.

The car now gives me the welcome call when I open the boot or any door & also when it is in ready state. Before it was only in ready state.

The headlights full beam was adjusted but I haven't driven at night yet to test it. I don't find the screen brightness a problem at night. It is set to auto.

The temperature setting is now better. 25 deg was the minimum for comfortable driving & any cooler I froze.. Now on 21 or 22 & it is about right.

Another odd thing is speed sign recognition. It still reads them all including off ramp signs but that is common to most cars but now it forgets the speed after a few minutes from the last sign & it changes to all dashes (no speed) till another one is seen.

There will probably be other things so I will report them as they occur

If you hold the button a bit longer it will change in 5kph steps, like it did before.
Just takes a bit of getting used to the change.
