MG4 Trophy, Yellow Exclamation Triangle.

Hi, New to this so apologies in advance. I was familiarising myself with the controls sitting in the vehicle, not active. I figured that the boffins who designed the software had allowed for ‘oldies’ to play around with the buttons, up/down options etc etc. However!, suddenly the exclamation triangular with a yellow background appeared even though the vehicle was stationary! I have no idea what I did or why I cannot remove it!!! Dumb for sure, so and advice needed and welcome however blunt!! Thank you.

To access the message centre I think you swipe left on the Infotainment screen

The MG4 is different to that of the MG5 and the ZS EV.
But can you have the MG4 in standby mode, or is always in ready mode ?.
With the MG5 and ZS EV you can have the car in standby, but if you leave the car in standby mode for to long, it will trigger a battery warning which is likely to be linked to the 12 volt battery status.
In the MG5 and the ZS EV the 12 volt battery is only receiving a charge when in ready mode.
This can catch people out, because running in standby mode, the 12 volt battery can be become that low, it will not boot up the car.
Again - I am not conversant with how the MG4 is set up.

Hi GKSVE and welcome to the forum you can see your messages on the screen in front of the steering wheel the speedo screen, I think on the right hand so side of your steering wheel you have the the little joy stick and just inside that you have 3 buttons press the middle then move left and right you will find the message centre you can then go up or down to read your messages.

Also what lovemyev #3 as said above can also be right as if you are just sitting in the drivers seat the car is on you need to be in ready mode with the car in park if you want to be learning what does what or you could run down the 12volt battery, and then the car might not start, best thing you can do is place the car in ready mode in park and in the centre screen there is an on board handbook have a read of that first or you can down load it indoor on you phone or lap top etc on MG website or if you go to the forum home page go to MG4 section there is a member there Sloucher, that as a hard copy for sale at cost worth while having one easier than try to read PDF screens.

Hi Jeff your dead right 4 is different than the others as the is no on/off button so when you sit on the drivers seat the car fires up but to put it in ready mode so that the traction battery tops up the 12 volt you need to press the brake pedal then it goes into the ready mode I’m pretty sure that’s what GKSVE has done ie run down the 12 volt its. Pain in the bum this idea of having no on/off button stupid idea in my mind.

Hi Jeff your dead right 4 is different than the others as the is no on/off button so when you sit on the drivers seat the car fires up but to put it in ready mode so that the traction battery tops up the 12 volt you need to press the brake pedal then it goes into the ready mode I’m pretty sure that’s what GKSVE has done ie run down the 12 volt its. Pain in the bum this idea of having no on/off button stupid idea in my mind.

Hi Les - All okay at this end, thank you Les ? .
Yeah, I was a little unsure how the MG4 system worked to be honest, but it was a pretty good guess that the car was in standby rather than ready state tbh.
I had an idea that the MG4 self boots ( a bit like a Tesla ) but to get it into the driving ( ready state ) you need to apply pressure to the foot brake, if you don’t apply pressure to the brake pedal, it must just put the car in standby mode ?.
Therefore the 12 volt is NOT being charged.
So in this respect it the same as the MG5 and the ZS EV.
For this reason alone, I always have my ZS EV in ready mode if I am just waiting for somebody.
If the 12 volt drops to low, the car will fail to boot into ready mode then.
