MG4 Undertray dip/bulge

Ombudsman has at least a six month wait at the moment but hang in there as MG customer service are a joke and raising issues is the only way they might change

I raised a case in Aug 2019 for a Ford dealer that supplied a faulty Ford. Went through the adjudicator process then onto an ombudsman for a final decision. That decision I got in June 2022. As at July 2023, the "legal binding" decision on the dealer has still not happened.

So what a debacle this is turning out to be. MG customer services are unwilling to replace the tray on mine, but as tenacious as I am, I am not letting this go and not accepting that the warping of the tray is a "characteristic of the car" or "it's due to the shape of the car" as reasons as put to me by MG customer service.

So I have raised this with the motoring ombudsman as MG will not honour the warranty in my view, will obtain a report on the car from an independent EV specialist and the video below clearly shows the defect. Stuart who's video this has had his replaced and is due to upload a video on the replacement he has had completed.

Cheering you on. This was just about the only issue I didn’t have but I was lucky to have a good dealer who went above and beyond what MG would do. Example, my car was manufactured without the sound insulation under the bonnet. No big deal. MG accused me of removing it myself and categorically refused to provide one. My dealer installed one as goodwill. I hope you get a result with this.

I just was checking mine, also to look at the tow bar fitting and the good news was it’s flat..the not so good news was the bolt wasn’t done up so I’ve tightened it with my fingers for now 🙄

That's the back edge, it's the front edge that warps.

WTF !!.... The email I received the Motoring Ombudsman regarding the case I have raised reads:

"We are currently experiencing delays in getting cases to administrators on new complaints, and it typically takes us at least 6 months to do so. "

So i'll be on to Citizens Advice tomorrow to see how to best progress myself via the consumer rights act 2015.

Then on to my MP to ask him how the hell that kind of service from the Motoring Ombudsman is helpful to consumers !

And that's just for them to start. You'll be into years by the time you get a resolution.

What the hell, where do you go now ? based on all this I truly wonder if it's ever wroth buying a new car.
I paid the deposit on a credit card so I went for a section 75 claim. They declined that and said they weren't liable for it as the motor ombudsman judgement was against the dealer, not them.So that's with the financial ombudsman now. If that fails, I'll have to go to court.

As a note, I have raised delays with the ombudsman with my local MP. I fail to see to how their service can be of any use to consumers with delays such as six months before even looking at a case. He has acknowledged and hopefully this will be picked up to be addressed.

Okay, so I now have a report from an independent specialist qualified to work with EVs'. For the under tray his written words on the report are:
"Gaps at the front and rear under trays either side of the centre fixing bolts, no visible damage. Suspect this is a product quality issue."

MG Warranty states: "Guarantees repair replacement or adjustment, free of charge, by an Authorised Repairer, of any part which fails during the warranty period, as a result of a manufacturing or material defect.

I'm sure of you go digging into the beginnings of the undertray thread there was an admission of a manufacturing defect in relation to the rear undertray, not sure if it was MG or a dealer.

I think it was that the holes didn't line up spot on with the fixings causing the bowing
