Hi forum,

I have a brand new MG4 Electric 49 kWh Lux (the version currently sold in my region for 2026).

When I received the car I tested the USB-A CarPlay port, but I didn’t check the USB-C port on the passenger side. A few days ago my wife tried to charge her iPhone 16e using that USB-C port, but it didn’t work. I tried different cables and still no luck.

My first thought was the fuse. I managed to access the fuse box (not easy at all). The F9 5A fuse seems OK and I also checked it with a multimeter.

However, when I looked closely at the socket, I noticed that on one side there is no visible metal terminal, while other slots do have one. For example the F6 slot (pedestrian alert module) clearly shows metal contacts. That made me think the circuit might not actually be closed.

The strange thing is that if I plug in an iPhone 11 or an iPhone 6, they do charge from the same USB-C port.
Tomorrow (Monday April 20) I’m taking the car to the dealer.

Any suggestions?

In the photo:
Red circle = F9 (charging port)
Green circle = F6

Both the front and rear USB-A ports work fine, wireless charging, and the 12V socket also works.

The USBC socket doesn't provide enough power to charge most phones and the solution is to buy an adapter that fits the 12V socket in the middle.

Doing an update.
Trying in another MG4 that was in the dealer place, same version as mine, it does charge my phone with my cable, no idea at what rate, but it goes to green and shows charging. Same version of software. So I left my car, so they can check it out.
Would be nice if any member of the forum, has ever opened the fuse box, and see if his has both terminal ends, I imagine they have, because what will be the point of having a fuse.

I might be remembering wrong but I believe the USB C port is 10w hence why is doesn't charge most new iPhones, my 16 pro max won't charge on it either. I suggest either using the car play USB port as that has more watts or use a cigarette adapter to get a USB C port. (I think the USB A port for car play might be 15w)
