You reposted this mate curious as to the reason

Just that when doing the occasional long trip and trying to plan how to only charge once, I try to plan as long into the trip as I can for the stop. I assume the range of 160ml needed from a full charge depends on getting at least 3 mls/kWh for the whole trip. So when halfway there and I see 2.0mls/kWh displayed, I wonder/panic about getting there.

I think you are paying too much attention to the GOM, the mg4 rough figures for summer and winter are well talked about on here.
Below is from EV database and it's pretty accurate, 180-195 is what most see in winter for combined range

trouble with the guess O meter it's based on past driving, it's got no idea about future driving. Present driving, is just averaged with past, so can take a while to have an effect.

ECO mode, no A/C, suburban driving, mild temperatures. I wouldn't expect to actually get this mileage.

278 miles, I believe.

It dropped to 428 when I put the A/C on, then back to 408 in NORMAL mode, which is how Iusually run it.

In winter, it was down around 360-370km, and that felt fairly accurate. Lop another 10% off for highway driving (steady 110kph).

Yeah I’ve see a consistent 350km range over winter doing a fair bit of highway driving. Now with the weather heating up and doing some more city driving I’ve crept back up to 400km range.

Wow that’s real good range then, what’s your consumption like? Mines always about 19 or 20 kWh / 100km. A short drive might show 15/16 but long term tracking is definitely 19+

I'm surprised Reintje, our 51 can get as low as 13 in the burbs. On our drive to Bridgetown, going up the scarp, it was about 17.

But we haven't seen the predicted range the wizard gets. I think the best I've seen is 410.
Very much doubt we ever got that.

Edit, I was driving fairly slow though, as Dot wanted to detour, and I wasn't sure of our range.
At the moment it's showing 266km @ 76%. about 14kWh/100km.

Yes that’s pretty good, I do drive shall we say “spirited”. I don’t really mind the figures, I have the range I need and can charge pretty much whenever I need, so it all works out.

I have my moments and enjoy them but rarely keep it up for long.
Being first at the lights, is often a temptation I can't resist.
Especially where there's a merging lane just after the lights.
There's a good excuse for rapid acceleration then, to get out of the way.

That's spooky! This is from the end of September. I've just been and checked, at 54% the estimate is 125 miles - I think that your estimate of 160 miles on a full charge is low, or there is a problem somewhere. Have you checked under the car to see if you've got an electricity leak?

The most I've consumed was driving to Northam during the middle of winter, used about 36% over 100km, but that's uphill as you know*. Generally, I'm around 14-15, but over the last month I've been 12.5 to 13.5, depending on whether I'm using AC or not.

It’s more likely that you 1; have a heavy left foot, 2: are using the HVAC constantly. 3: do most of your miles from cold on open roads where little or no regen is being created.
This is not a criticism of any driving style, just a list of things that increase energy consumption. Shorter trips in town driving with good anticipation of road ahead will lead to better mileage. My average is 3.8mi/kWh over five years of ownership. Dont know if that’s good or bad but it doesn’t vary much.

To complete the anecdote, my most recent charge to 100% showed only 413km expected range with A/C on and NORMAL mode (about 15km down from the previous full tank).

I noticed up to 29 kWh usage in the first couple of kilometres travelled, before it started to drop down to expected levels.
