New MY23 Changes (wheels/roof/one pedal driving/rear centre headrest & new rear wiper!)

I can see how you guys are thinking about this, but..... IMHO this is the addition of a rear wash wiper and headrest that will be next to useless anyway and people will likely remove / not use. It's not a design change, there is no body styling change.
The other change to the new cars is the deletion of a black roof, which I really like as i'm sure many do.

All in all. it's a change that if I had it on mine, i'd undo (remove the centre headrest), not use the wiper and would be dissapointed with no black roof, then look at a wrap for it.

Whilst I am most certainly not the biggest fan of MG as a company by a long shot (as you say Bowfer, "they don't give a toss", about customers it appears), as long we all obtain the latest software updates etc I don't believe this change has a major negative impact on existing owners.
I'd agree with most of this, just to say I was (I think) one of the lucky ones who ordered back in Feb (pre price increase) and when collected my Trophy last week, got the 23 model, took off the mid headrest immediately for visibility (also will rarely carry 3 in the back - loved Richmoor's supermodel comment on that) I do find the rear wiper helpful albeit small, until I get used to using camera (none on prev car) also prefer the 18" rims but accept that opinions vary on that (Pros - improved handling and looks, Cons - harder ride, dearer tyre changes) And yes I was disappointed with the loss of two-tone roof- and got it wrapped !
One neg change not mentioned is 23 Trophy only has 7kwAC (single phase) charger fitted vs 11kw (22 model) - mine does anyway
Not a very big issue as will mostly charge at home where only 7kw available, and on longer runs use high speed DC, but in places where DC not available it would be nice to have 11kw option, Lastly having the one pedal drive option is nice and seems to work well, tho personally I seldom use it - I guess still prefer the braking expectation I had with ICE.
On SW front, car came with R33 installed but due to issues already updated to the latest R46 to address them, so far so good.

Shame to hear that MY23 LR cars now only get 7kW AC charging. That is disappointing. Maybe that paid for the rear wiper, 3rd headrest and the bigger wheels?

You have R46 Infotainment software? Not heard of that version before. Any notable improvements (eg bluetooth stability)?

Anyone with a v2 Trophy confirm if it has actual automatic wipers or not still? Only thing stopping me order now. Know everyone has an opinion on auto wipers but I can’t have a car without them now after 20 years having them.

The new release is starting to appear like they are 'Robbing Peter to pay Paul". 7KW only, no black roof.... but headrest and wiper.

Really? I prefer the speed-variable wipers the MG4 has, they work better than any automatic wipers I have ever had. Can't imagine not buying a car over this one aspect.

Makes perfect sense. No free lunch, adjust the mix due to feedback.

It has what MG refer to in the manual as 'automatic', in reality it's variable Intermittent depending on switch pos and speed (they say)
The 4 switch positions are OFF, INT, Low and High, within the INT there is an additional 3 pos toggle,
In my experience I haven't noticed a real difference relating to car speed they mention, but system works reasonably ok, I guess it's just another cost saving not having a rain sensor, pity tho, I do miss it from prev car, but not a deal breaker and still a great car for the price

Yes, R46 does seem better (prev was R33) tho only upgraded two days so perhaps a little soon to say for sure, but haven't needed to re-pair phone (was doing nearly every time I got into car) and my online connection for iSmart, nav and weather is ok now, hadn't worked since getting car a week ago.
Other changes are AC page very different and altho looks like designed by a 12 yo - with big square buttons, it does seem to work well and easier to hit correct button while driving than prev ver, (I'll accept the practicality over looks)
Battery charge page slightly tweaked also, and the L/R favorites shortcut buttons on wheel can now be set for same list on both sides

Totally agree, since I'd ordered orange I got roof wrapped as I think it needs the black roof to set it off, funny thing is over here in Ireland MG haven't even updated their website to new model, still shows black roof in promo brochure and listed on spec list.
As for charging downgrade from 11 to 7, of course no mention of that anywhere, I'm guessing they're thinking is anyone new to EVs won't know the difference - tho I see a few queries why people can't see 22kw AC charging on they're car, but almost no manufacturers utilising that full capability - more cost saving for them

I've just done 26 miles in the rain and have been thinking about the rain sensor thing. I'm having to train myself to remember to switch the wipers on, because I've not been without rain sensors since 1998! When I originally got a car with them I thought they were really cool, and on my test drive a lorry dumped a load of water from a puddle on the car's windscreen and that was actually impressive.

But they had their downside. One was going off on one at high speed at sub-zero temperatures. Another was (sometimes) taking a rather mad decision about what speed to go at, or even whether to turn on or not. I'm rapidly coming to the conclusion that deciding for myself what setting I want, selecting it, and leaving it there until I change my mind, beats sitting wondering when the car is going to get its act together, or simply giving up and over-riding the auto setting completely (which means you have no intermittent setting at all).

If memory serves me the car was never meant to come with 11kw AC charging on the LR or Trophy, it was originally advertised as 7.
I remember people being pleasantly surprised when it did.
Faster AC charging is a real bonus to have if your not in a rush and don't need to use fast chargers

Can't recall that either. But, it's all starting to feel to me like the original model is better than the latter, once all the damn issues have been fixed that is !

Once!! More like IF!!😉
Definitely 'once' for me.... i'm taking mine into an independent EV specialist on Thursday to have a health check done and report created. I'm then into an MG dealer (not Newbury as they have no specialists there and no service or spares dept despite purporting to have one) and will push them hard to fix it.
If they resist, then 'tier 2' of the consumer rights act 2015... either they buy the car back off me (usage taken into consideration) or pay for the issues to be fixed by an independent, i'll provide the quotes. After that, if they still resist, 'Hi Ho, Hi Ho'..it's off to a small claims court we go.

Good luck with that, can't see them paying for an independent to do repairs but alsong as you have given them one opportunity to fix the issue that makes the car not fit for purpose, you can try and go down the rejection route. Can take a while though.

On an altogether different note I was having a look on autotrader there are some good deals out there on brand new phase one 2023 Trophy's, cheaper than the ones with affinity discount. Must be getting rid of the phase one cars

Agree, I can't see them paying for it either when they can get the parts cheap and have their own technicians, makes no sense cost wise. But then MG customer services have made no damn sense so far anyway.
Rejection is them buying the car back off me (as above), or I keep the car but they pay for the repair costs.
Motoring Ombudsman is next to worthless, they can't pick up a case for six months and are funded by motor manufactures not the Government. So you can see what's going on there
Small claims court... that'll be the final shot

Bargain, but only if you know what to look for and hold them to fix it all before you take the plunge
If I was in the market now knowing what I know, I might go for one (with my battle gear on), definitely a better deal than the newer version in my view.

Yes, thanks. I missed the word "affected" from my sentence. As in the lower the profile, the more the ride comfort is affected. With the budget MG are using, I don't think they'll be using very low profile tyres anyway apart from the X-Power.
tires on my MY23 is identical to the Xpower. Bridgestones 235/45 R18. Wouldn't say "45" are hugely low on profile.

Yeah exactly same tyres. I finally managed to get in a MY23 Trophy yesterday at a dealers (mine still a month away from delivery!) Didn't get a chance to drive it but I like the wheel covers and think the rear wiper will be occasionally useful. Agree with others that rear centre headrest kinda blocks visibility. Had a brief look in the menu. Sales-person agreed that LKA is troublesome for some people.

Like you I’ve “always” had auto wipers and was a bit miffed to find that MG automatic meant intermittent wipers which go faster when you speed up - not that I’ve ever noticed this. Today I had to drive through a big puddle which drenched the screen and I lost view of the road for a second or two before I realised the wipers had to be switched on. Very dangerous on a busy two lane road!

In my previous cars with auto wipers, I've always had them switched off until it starts to rain, so I would be expecting them not to come on in your scenario and give the screen a quick single wipe or turn them on.
I always found auto wipers a bit random TBH and much prefer intermittent.
