So not sure if anyone else is on OVO Charge Anytime, but the bastards have decided that they will not communicate with the charger to get readings from 15th July, and thus will just stop giving us electricity at the lower rate. This is great 1½ weeks after I've bought an MG HS PHEV to use this tariff, and paid £1K for the Ohme home pro charger form them, which I could have got for £600 through someone else I know who is in the game. But had to have it installed by OVO, then after less than 2 weeks ownership and starting to benefit from the reduced rates, they decide they are no longer accepting readings from the Ohme home pro charger. Unless your car can speak directly to the charger, they will not give you the reduced rate !! Absolutely fuming doesn't come close to expressing my thorough anger with OVO Energy !!! Ade

at least it saves me the quandry of looking at switching away from ovo and concerns I might miss out on my cheaper electric etc. can't believe after 1 1/2 weeks of being signed up they have decided to bin everything especially after I paid more for the charger from them !! it really is a shit show I am so mad with them !!

Damn, I'm gonna get nailed to keep the cheap EV charging anywhere at the minute. My rate for electric is 20.7p per kWh, standing charge is 49.22p per day, on gas I am 5.88p per kWh with 10.96p a day standing charge. My OVO tariff runs out 20th August or something. So I might get them to release me early from this tariff, then it's either Eon Next Drive or Octopus to change to. I got prices from Eon - I just need to check Octopus rates.

I checked that guide; I will soon be changing. Me thinks now ovo have scrapped Charge Anytime for anything that is not on the supported vehicle list. Not sure why, absolutely no reason given.

What a shambles at such short notice. Seems they will only integrate with some EV's directly and three EVSEs (Anderson, Hypervolt and Indra).

TBH I've calmed down a lot, now gonna go to Octopus or Eon next; I just need to find out what the rates and standing charges are on each. Just better get back my 800 free EV miles I have accumulated, and enabled when I clicked to anytime charge. But annoyed that I got Ovo to fit the charger, but this was in the terms: seemed like you had to get them to fit it.

Switch to Octopus who I believe still support Ohme.

If you don't have family or a friend with Octopus referral code (£50 credit each) then please consider using the charitable one in my bio.

That is extremely poor behaviour.

I hope they let you leave your tariff after your complaint.

It's damned annoying. Motability went round changing the chargers that they had been fitting as standard to Ohme and we were getting Anytime Charging. Now we are stuck with a car that is not on their direct charge list and a charger that will no longer work with their system. Well that's made the decision and they'll be losing us as customers.

I am incandescent with rage !!
Seriously- I just had an email from my electricity supplier OVO saying the OHME charger they fitted a few weeks ago for over £1000 is not compatible with their charge anytime EV tariff any more.
Also my Citroen car is no longer suitable to be charged on the tariff any longer.
So they recommend that I go away and find another electricity supplier ??
Anyone else in this position ??
I phoned and asked them to just swap the OHME for the charger that they’ll continue to recommend but apparently they’d prefer if I just go away and beg another company to take me on.
Ludicrous!!

Exactly the same as me if you call them and had it fitted in last few weeks they should give you as a good will gesture £50 a month credit back for next 3 months as I was in the same position mine was fitted 23rd April but didn't start using until I picked up my new car 23rd May.

Really annoying as I only went to the PHEV as my current fixed tariff since August 2024 had free EV miles etc. and also knew it was the way we will all be going forward.

but I also bought car outright and did a remortgage taking out extra 2 years on my mortgage to pay for it ? Hence why I started this thread !! Was so annoyed as the charger itself seems great - wish the charger was more compatible with an MG HS so that you just say charge until battery is full instead of having to tell it what percentage to top up - seems ridiculous to me that the charger and app can't communicate with the car ? maybe a software upgrade from ohme and MG will fix in the near future ?

In the mantime with OVO until my fixed ends as 10p cheaper per day standing charge and no cheaper daily rate until my contract runs out so switching now (whilst they are giving me £50 back per month would not be cost effective)

I’ve just signed up with Octopus. I haven’t heard back from OVO but I think they blew it with the email and initial phone call yesterday.
