Just wondering if the 4 has a parking pawl in the transmission which engages when you press "P" on the selector.
I know the gen 1 ZS didn't, "P" just engaged the handbrake on the rear wheels, but the MG4 manual says "P" locks the transmission and there is a slight rock and a metallic clunk sound if you press "P" while you're still rolling.
