MGS5
Hello,

I purchased an MGS5 EV in November and I have been having strange issues. It started with an error on the dash to say the collision awareness system error/faulty. At first I thought was dirt on my front screen, because the error would clear after a while. Then it was my infotainment system screen going blank, when I start the car, but music still coming out of the radio. Then I got a number of errors, at the same time, saying that the speed awareness system, the lane assistance and the collision awareness system fault. All these errros/issues appear when I start the car.

I have gone back to the place I brought it from, 4 times, and they keep saying im imaganing it because its fine when they look at it. I have now realised, if i drive over 20-30 minutes it all kicks back in and the garage is 40 minutes away from my home. So I have been taking photos and videos when the issue appears, and sending them each time (via email) but they still keep saying im making it up.

I am now noticing that if im driving, and its working, but then i stop for a short time (to go in to a shop for example) then go back to driving the screen stays off.

Anyone got any suggestions/thoughts?

The garage is, technically, breaching consumer rights act 2015:
  • Repair or Replacement (Up to 6 Months): If a fault appears after 30 days but within the first 6 months, you are entitled to a repair or replacement. The law assumes the fault was present at the time of delivery unless the dealer can prove otherwise.

Two things to try.
1. Check the 12V battery terminals are tight.
2. Try a factory reset.

You say it's when you 'start the car'. I don't know whether you've just transitioned from an ICE to the S5, but if you have then you need to appreciate that if you try to do a quick getaway/do things too quickly on starting an EV (MGs anyway) it will throw up all sorts of error messages that then disappear. My MG5 was a lot worse than my S6 is for that, which suggests that MG may have moved on from <sarc>Windows 3.1 to Windows 98 (2E)</sarc> since I had my MG5 Trophy FL.

so, for example, i get in the car, put my foot on the break which starts the car. I then sit, waiting for my partner to put our son in his car seat, and things still do not work. I then drive off and the same things still dont work

Doesn't sound like the issue I described then. But it does sound suspiciously similar.

the odd thing is yeaterday the info system just cut out while I was driving and wouldn't come back on. I did notice there is a back light on it, when its off, so seams there is some power going to it.
