Radio Freeze?

Continuing my story. After Reset to Factory Setting, radio started working. While driving it today, it stopped working. Booked it into dealer after that. Got into car to drive home and it started working again. Very annoying.

I am still having issues with the radio freezing. However, I have found that I can get the radio to play again by using the voice command and saying turn on the radio. I hope a fix for this problem comes out soon.

I’m having a strange issue with the radio, it suddenly goes silent. I can change station or switch from DAB to FM but it never starts again until after I restart the car. This is kinda tricky at motorway speeds!!
Is anyone else having this issue or should I go back to the dealer’s and ask them to fix it?

Sounds (sorry for the pun) like you need to let the dealer have a look

Yes, I'm waiting for the local MG Dealer to ring me back... Meanwhile, here's what MG Motors HQ in Longbridge have to say:
The change - Fahrenheit to centigrade - is software we have had available. Unfortunately, the factory didn’t make it easy to just change from one to another etc.
Therefore, specialist equipment was required and all of the dealers within the UK shared a tool. MG Motor UK Ltd. are then responsible to send out the software, and we are then reliant on them being sent back in a timely fashion, and unfortunately, a lot of special tools have gone missing, causing the current delays that we have.
Rather than re-releasing this software, we have now told dealerships that the unit needs to be removed from the car and sent to our engineering offices. We will then complete the change and return the unit on the same day that we receive. So the process is:-

  1. You visit your MG Dealership
  2. They open a technical case with MG
  3. We give them full instructions regarding what they should do
  4. They can request a hire car for you to use whilst the unit is out of the car. At this time of year you would not be able to manage without heaters/blowers etc.
  5. Our engineer will reload the software and return the unit.
I trust that this will answer your questions, unfortunately, the unit needs to be sent to a non customer facing location and therefore I cannot offer you a visit to any particular site for this, it will need to be carried out by an MG Dealership. I will emphasise, any MG Dealership can carry out these actions.

Has anyone had their radio problem sorted? Mine is going into the dealer on Monday. It would be good to know if anyone has had it sorted.

My radio has only started freezing the last couple of days - weird.
Voice command for me doesn't work at all.

I know a few people have mentioned the low tyre warning to rear offside left tyre when temperatures drop, now getting it with other rear tyre too - they are perfectly ok. Very annoying to keep getting the dumb message(would like to check your car in for a tyre service?) four or five times a day, and all the alerts on the iSmart app.

I’ve had issues with DAB freezing since getting the car in October. Last week it went in for a replacement screen and control module….. That didn’t fix it!

Then got a call from the dealer saying there was an update available, had that loaded and so far 6 days, no issue with the radio. Also the energy consumption graph now works. No driver asleep or take a break warnings. All in all big improvement.

I’m in a Trophy and the update was to R33

I’m sure this has been asked elsewhere, but where do I find out what software version I’m on? Had my first couple of radio freezes this weekend and I’d love for the consumption graph to work as it’s doing nowt on my Trophy

Hmm, I spoke to soon…. Radio froze today, but that the first time in a week rather than daily and no issues with the screen auto scrolling. So some progress at least
