Interesting Christmas project you have going on there, Chris😉 looking forward to see your end result. Keep us updated 🤗

Can someone help answer the following question, are the two rear lights that are within the same unit housing the reversing light solid lights, there not twin filament lights are they?
The side lights units are I presume dual filament lights for side light and break lights aren’t they?.
Sorry haven’t taken the units off to look inside yet...

The one's on the tailgate? Yes these are one's...the larger one larger revising light bulb and two smaller ones and the extra sidelights.
This was my first attempt, using two small single filament red LED's but they were simply not bright enough, that why I went with these suggested by Mark.....from China..

Hey Happy New Year everyone.

My Nighteye LED Headlamp bulbs arrived yesterday and look great.

Also received my rear LED bulbs for the Stop/Tail, Reversing, Sidelights, Number Plate, Luggage/Boot and Interior.

I have now fitted the interior LED's to the passenger and Luggage/Boot area and the Number Plate lights, which I have to say all look great and much brighter than the filament bulbs.

Before I start to remove the rear cluster lights, can anyone tell me if they managed to replace the Turn Indicator Bulbs with LED's?

There has been so much controversy regarding doing this as I have heard it could effect the flashing speed or the amber level was not deep enough or bright enough etc.

If you have replaced these successfully, can you please advise which Amber LED's you bought and used and did you just mange to replace the rear bulbs on the vehicle or all the other front and mirror indicator bulbs too?

Which lights did you buy for the rear Stop/Tail, Reversing, Sidelights, Number Plate, Luggage/Boot and Interior?
Let us know what they are like once fitted, thank you

Hi Andy, the "hyper flashing" is a quick fix, if it happens just change the flasher unit, but, in a new car I would have thought it is already a new type anyway. I have LED indicator bulbs in my 1961 Rover, only because it is charged by a dynamo and every little helps, as they say. Once I changed the flasher it stopped the hyper flashing.
Although I am sure somebody on here as fitted LED turn bulbs so will confirm if you need to change the flasher unit or not.

Thanks for that Marcad, might just bite the bullet and order the amber LED bulbs. Just thought that if I am stripping out the clusters, to replace everything with LED in one hit.

Andy, I think on the classiccarled site they list one that is designed as ballast and resistor free. Drop them an email I always found them helpful.

I changed the rear turn signal bulbs to orange led, they work for about 30 seconds then hyperflash, I was going to change back to normal, but would changing the flasher unit make a difference?
I have changed the front turn bulbs to osram silver coated ones and they with great, the rear are different fitment hence the led.

The problem I had was that the current draw of the leds was so small the flasher wouldn't work and they would hyperflash. Similar to when a bulb goes in the circuit. I was advised to fit a new electronic flasher unit. This sorted out my Flash rate. The electronic flasher works with filament bulbs as well as leds so if it didn't work I could revert back to filaments. About 2 years now so far so good. Hope this helps but might be worth dropping one of the specialist LED sellers a line and get their thoughts. Good luck, I'm. watching this thread for future reference .

Marc.

I went with the led's Marcad linked to from classiccarled's.
I ordered it (dec.30) just before the Brexit toke place. So I still wait to see the result of the new rear tail/stoplight setup. A couple of months ago I changed the reverse lights to led's, that turned out great. Maybe I should have gone for rear turnsignals to now when I am at it!
But for now I wait to see what happens after I change the front turnsignals first. 2 weeks ago I ordered the wrong one for the front, I was not aware that there is different versions for the front. You need to buy socket BAU15s.
Look forward to see more light solutions here in the new year :)

To stop the white bleed through you can get Stop/Tail in red, here is a link for some.

Hi, can you please tell me how many of these bulbs do I need for the mg zs ev rear lights, have bought the reverse lights so thought I may as well do the rest

Hi, i recently purchased a MG ZS EV and i am finding the headlights are terrible, so i was going to change them for LED, but i have read on some forums that LED headlights are only legal in the UK if they are fitted from new, as they meet the European / UNECE technical standards and it is illegal to retrofit them.
Is this correct?
Thanks.

It seems like that is how it is in many countries (sadly). But I have chosen to do better regarding the light on the MG.
I regard safety higher, so I changed. I guess I will change back when the MOT is comming up in 3.5 years time. But for now I feel a lot better compared to how it was originally.

I replaced my reversing lights with LEDs two weeks back and it makes a massive difference to the visibility of the reversing camera at this time of year. I’m wondering if doing the two number plate bulbs (as I have a few led W5W spare) might further illuminate the camera in the dark as they are in the right neck of the woods to provide further ambient light
Hi, Glad I've seen this as I having been thinking for a while how poor the rear camera is. This is a great to see this helps and shall order some bulb thanks :) I was also looking into trying some different cameras to see if this would improve the quality at all day or night but maybe a mini camera wiper would be a better solution, its get so dirty so quick especially with my motorway journeys.

It helps to change the reversing lights. But it is never going to be a great backup camera. It just get dirty all the time. But I will never live without a backup camera in an EV.
