What happens when you have to pay first then you plug in and it won’t charge? You lost your cash?

So far never happened to me but I always (being paranoid) take photos of the screen showing no charge, just in case. This rarely happens. Sometimes when you first sign up with one particular charger company, they take "deposit" on your card but don't actually keep it, so the answer is no, they don't charge you in advance, only for what you take.

Most pre authorise an amount anything from £1 (Applegreen) - £30 (gridserve) some even more but the transaction just sits there pending until the correct amount comes through or it get cancelled.
