Hi,

As above: Why does my MG alway revert to Long Journey mode (100%), even if I set it to 80%. This is an ongoing issue.

The methodology was: there was a schedule on the charger (Zappi) to take advantage of Octopus Intelligent Go, and the amount was limited by the car (80%).

I was nagged by Octopus to use their app (or they would downgrade my tariff to Octopus Go), but it would always charge to full (100%) regardless of what I set it to. I also got the message "Cannot control you car".

There are no schedules set on either car app or charger. Octopus are next to useless, as all they say is we cannot control my car (but not what is stopping them), and myEnergi don't respond.

Cheers

I also had this problem in the past and it has appeared after an update.
An additional update performed afterwards corrected the problem.
You need to contact your MG dealer to perform the last update in your car, especially the BMS related one.

And Octopus are correct, they cannot read or control the car - MG do not allow it - that is why you have to manually set the "amount of charge to add" each time you charge. OIG has always been like that.

Thanks, do in effect I have to use 2 apps: octopus to add 50% (car at 30% - takes it to 80%) and set iSmart to 80%as well?

This was happening before the last service in April (which hasn't stopped it). This only started happening after I started to use the Octopus app.

I don't think the Octopus has something to do with that issue. This is typically controlled by the car.
I am pretty sure that if you try on another charging station brand, this won't change.

As above, the car should stay at 80% if you set it at that. The only time mine has changed is when I get a "token expired" in iSmart and when I log in again it had reset to 100%. But if you are setting the "to add" value reasonably accurately it should not go much above 80% anyway (mine stopped at 83% when iSmart needed a login this week and reset to car to 100%).

It would be better to set the slider in the to car to 80% (Battery health mode) on the Charge settings Tab on the infotainment screen, rather than relying on the app to change the setting. The app is notorious at not talking to the car, and when you are changing the charge level from the app it is "timing out" before any changes are performed. From the app it should return "Request successful" or something similar.

The car should always obey the limit shown on the battery screen. Change it in the car, not the app, to be certain.

If it is set to 80% and it charges beyond 80% or it resets to 100%, then you have a software issue with the car which needs fixing by your dealer.

Obviously this only applies to LR models, the SR model uses a different battery chemistry and does not have a settable limit.

My car has multiple times done the opposite of what your car is doing (i.e. changed it's setting from 100% down to 80%) when 100% has been set in the app and has been adhered to a couple of times. You have to like the consistency these cars have.

We have an Ohme charger on IOG. We have nothing set in the car, never touch the Ismart app and never open the Octopus app, at least not since set-up in Feb '24. We tell the Ohme app what % we need and by when and it has never failed us yet.

Not sure why the Zappi isn't working with Octopus, it says it is compatible. I leave my car on 100% and let the Octopus app add the percentage needed to get it to about 80%.
