Is it your car? Could you see it before the app update? If yes then you've logged into your account using the wrong details - see the big thread about the app. [ Edit moderator: now merged with the "big thread". ]

Yes it’s my car, it worked before the update, then stopped working, so I reinstalled the app which was a mistake as I think I should have unbound it first and I need the original app to unbind, now I’m stuck with a bound car and an app which requires binding, and no way of binding and unbinding, (catch 22).

Either contact your dealer or MG customer services and ask them to unbind your car. They will need a copy of your log book (V5C) and might also need proof of ownership.

is it not the case that the binding is to your account, rather than the specific app?
It is. The password and user name allows you to access the car's account which is held on MG's servers via the app. You can access this account from any device with the iSmart app installed using the same log in details but it will log out the previously connected device.

As mentioned previously in this thread when logging in to the updated app you need to use the same username as you first used i.e. your phone number or email address even if you have since added the other to the app.

The problem some have is that the updated app no longer accepts special characters, you can only use letters and numbers. If the original password includes symbols (+ £ $ & etc.) you need to try forgotten password to change it otherwise get the car unbound by the dealer who has to contact MG or MG directly.

Yes it was a second account problem, I originally used my phone number, then after reinstalling app, used my email (didn’t work), so I used my phone number, (still didn’t work), re entered my phone number but without the “0” at the beginning, voila it worked, connected straight to car without the need to bind, the problem was incorrect entry of original details which created another account.

I had this problem as well, but as long as you have the correct original details of the user name, you can use “forgotten password” option.

I unbound my account, cleared all data, uninstalled then reinstalled the app, re registered, bound my phone and car again and it's still flakier than a Gregg's pasty. On the plus side if the folks responsible for coding the car & app software are indicative of the so called state sponsored hackers then our financial, defence, and health services can sleep a little easier. 🤗 It connects every time and quite fast if I'm in the car and it's powered on though for me!

My only complaint is the lack a dark mode. No pleasing some folk!
I'm my own worst enemy, 2.01 was working fine and wasn't a compulsory install like 2.0 was, so I should've just left 2.02 alone but I couldn't resist an update. If the so called ota updates reported by another user arrive this year I'll be putting on boxing gloves and sitting on my hands to resist the temptation and staying well clear as dealerships have managed to brick cars hardwired so what hope do we have?

My car goes in on Wednesday for all available updates. I'm a little worried that it possibly may be a case of if it ain't broke don't fix it. Dealer convinced me that I should have it updated to latest standard. It's been really good for the year I've had it so 🤞.

I have a samsung phone, MG iSmart version 2.02 - it seems that Apple phones have an advanced version. Version 2.03 seems to be available in other countries but not in the UK via Play Store.

I have V2.0.3 in the UK
So do I 👍.

anyone else having trouble with iSmart App this eve? Was working fine this morning but now saying unavailable and errors about remote key.

Does not let me check vehicle status or turn on remote heating. Server issues? Or just me?

Edit: thanks for all responses, it sounds like everybody having issues since around midday 25/01/24. Will update this post again once people start getting in again.

Edit 2: working again now 7am 26/01/24
