Took the bucket and sponge to the other seagull magnet this morning. It was filthy from a trip to Tortworth Lake last weekend along some muddy tracks. Have a new micro fibre drying towel and it's amazing! Saved me loads of time.

Also, for those of you wondering what my wife's pride and joy is. Well here it is. Her very first car, and restored back in 2000-2002. Only comes out when the sun shines now.

Now I totally understand why your wife has priority for the garage space. If that was my car it would get priority over any new car I had, gorgeous VW Bettle 😍

I’ve been using the micro fibre towels for a while now, I’m still amazed how much water they pick up without you having to rinse them out & like you said, save so much time. 👍

Talking about Shiny Cars.....

Sampled my local very shiny and new MFG Charging Station and Jet Wash area.

Electrons are a bit dear at 75p but the excellent wash bays were 2 minutes per £1.
I usually wash mine at home, but needed to kill a bit of time before a DRs appointment, so had a play.

The nearest jet wash to me has been there since time began I think

I used it once in the past. We hired a Volvo & it got a bit grubby & just wanted to clean it over before I took it back. I can’t remember what I paid (it wasn’t cheap) but a complete waste of time & money. At least this one you posted pics of actually looks decent. Like you though I prefer to clean car at home.

Can I ask mate. I’ve now seen advertised a lot of car products, cleaners, protective coatings for matte paints, any special products you use?

On the subject of car washing, I'm considering the AutoGlym Polar Blast pre wash product..... any issues with this.
Paint colour is volcanic orange.....

I’ve used Autoglyms Polar blast on my MG4 ( Camden Grey ) on my previous Ford, metallic blue & used it a couple of times on my sister BMW 1 Series, it’s a darker metallic grey ( don’t know official name ) & had no issues on any of them.

Have you seen my first ever post on here m8?
There is a multitude of ways we are looking after our Matte Green Cars and added to that, a multitude of products.

Please get yourself a cup of tea and have a read.

You will notice techniques evolving and shortening.

I was really worried about the process and products at the start, having never owned a matte car, but am very happy with my routine now, and don't have any disasters to report with applying the wrong product.

Apologies, I missed that, or I read it & forgot, quite possible 😂

I’ll have a proper read when home, thanks 👍

Just had a read, great thread 👍

The Autoglym Shampoo & Conditioner you use ( green label ) I’ve been using for years, great stuff.

Recently though I’ve switched to Autoglym Ultra HD Shampoo. It’s more expensive, between £15-18 depending where you shop but I find it foams up better & just a little easier to work with.

& not really important but, it smells incredible, reminds me of the old Tooty Fruity sweets 😁

Am going forward with the AutoGlym system....
This will be the most basic of questions, but having never used one before.....

I've watched videos of setting up the bottle with the appropriate mix. Do I assume that I don't run the Karcher with the usual water supply attached and just use the mix that's in the bottle??

Sorry for the'durr'quality of the query.....

I don't mix it, I use it neat.
Up to you how 'foamy' you want it.
If you dilute it, it lasts longer, but I've got money to throw around 🤣

You MUST keep the water attached and turned on or else nothing will happen.

Well, apart from your machine screaming it's head off! 🤣

My OCD has really kicked in today. I usually give the car a wash over ( I don’t use polar blast, snow foam every wash unless car got filthy ) once a week but busy the weekend & yesterday & just started raining again now

& the dust my MG collects on the inside, both screens & the black plastics is crazy

Hopefully tomorrow the weather is half decent & it will get a hoover & wipe inside & a wash over & dry outside.

Appreciate the reply,; thank you.

Last novice question....

I assume the foam once on the ground gradually dissipates. OK for drains or soakaway drainage?

Cheers!!

No problem.

Yes, dissipates on its own eventually or you can just give it a quick blast to help it on its way.

Household drains no problem, but you wouldn't want it in your rivers or streams.

There are bio degradable offerings out there, but I don't think the AutoGlym stuff is amongst them.

I bought the carbon fibre overlays for the piano black parts, definitely helping in not seeing so much dust😉
