EV opposition in the media is ramping up

An on board fire suppression system from factory similar to what race cars have would be good. Itll add weight to the car though
You cannot supress battery fires, once they've entered the thermal runaway stage you have to take the heat away (nigh on impossible) or let it burn out which doesnt take long. The heat does of course cause neighbouring cells in the battery to start the thermal runaway process so a chain reaction amongst all of the cells is likely extending the time that the fire is ongoing.

My EVSE is in my attached double garage, and where the car is parked. After researching, I decided to buy and install a heat alarm in there, rather than a smoke alarm. It’s connected to smoke alarms inside my bungalow, so should provide an audible warning of anything untoward in the garage.
You can install a combined

Photoelectric Smoke & Heat Alarm that does both

Something very unhelpful from Matt Watson:

Note:
  • It isn't five minutes but just under 3 minutes according to the charger display.
  • I have never ever heard any EV owner claim a 5 minute charge is useful or comparable to a pump stop.
  • It obscures the useful truth that if you stop for 25 minutes, including going to the toilet, ordering and eating a meal, then you will get a substantial increase in charge:

Really disappointed in this kind of crap.

At the nominal 150 kW charge rate of the local Tesla Supercharger (actually 143kW when I’m less than 30% full), 15 minutes is enough to guarantee me to get home on my hour long commute with a big hill section in the middle.

The difference he is not mentioning, is he couldn't have parked at the bowser with the nozzle in the car and pumping fuel while he went for a pee, the consul attendant (if they were awake) should have stopped the bowser as soon as the vehicle was unattended.

OK, add the co pilot staying with the vehicle while it filled with fuel, then doing their pit stop ...... as if they would rush the process in an attempt to prove something, they would do the usual 10 mins min in the restroom, followed by ordering something to eat and a coffee, then waiting for it to be prepared, then wandering out to the vehicle.
Sure, the tank would be full, the driver having been inside to pay for the fuel and back out now, having moved the vehicle away from the pumps to avoid generating bowser rage ..... and maybe have time to tap his feet in frustration ..... but I doubt he would dare say anything, because the co pilot would have bought something for them ..... if not, the next section of the journey is not going to be pleasant at all, complete with his stomach asking why he didn't get something while they were waiting ......

Now the time frame is closer to the recharging time from 20% to 80% and the co pilot will need a nature stop by then, even if he doesn't ...... nonsense argument destroyed by a reality check ......

A good reviewer should be open minded and not show any bias.

Which he has just done in spades.

A very poor show.
Certainly not a balanced look, or even attempting to show a non bias. Can anyone give an opinion regarding the percentage left compared to expected range to make an educated guestimation on his driving style prior the pulling up for a convenience break charge?

Good point (y)

I agree Tom and as for Matt Watson I have no time for him at all to be quite honest.
Les.

I've said it before the laddie has main character syndrome, he's a total tit!
Or as Bricktop would have put it, "A Twonk" ..... I think I got that right

If you are watching Bricktop, you might be gone, but not forgotten ;)

Yes and not only that, in the UK the fuel pumps are typically located separately from the toilets and refreshments on the exit. So he would have had to have parked, run to the toilet, come back and then driven to the pump to fill up, so the real point is EVs fill up without you while you do other things.

Exacree ( not sure I spelt that correctly) It is just another one of the great benefits of EV ownership:
you don't have to hold the filler adapter while it refills the energy container, the EV is responsible enough to left unattended
forget the filler cap when you drive off
have to line up to pay for the privilege of being robbed .......

That video was amusingly debunked when it came out, including by The EV Guy, who made a video entitled "Are electric kettle owners lying?" He tested the claim that you can boil enough water for a cup of tea in 60-80 seconds by filling the kettle 85% full.

There were other anomalies such as the journey apparently starting in Glasgow and the satnav showing Tebay as the destination. The video was made at Annandale Water. Work it out. Nobody would have needed or wanted to stop at all on such a short journey, for any reason. Assuming they were going further I don't know why they would even have wanted to stop at Tebay, unless for a people break. The car still wouldn't have needed charging.

I saw a very recent tweet suggesting that he is now on the side of the angels. Declaring that EVs are the best cars and will be most people's choice fairly soon. I don't know if he'll ever live that video down though.

I have purchased 3 cars via Carwow and was considering them for my next purchase this year. I have just written to them saying as a direct result of this 'misinformation' I will be going elsewhere for my next purchase.

Absolutely dreadful portrayal of so called facts.
