Hi. Beginners question
Is it possible to jumpstart a traditional vehicle from my MG4?
If so how would I go about it?

I asked the engineer the very same question, when I took my car last week.
He said “I wouldn’t recommend it”.

Try it then, if you are so confident that it is fine. I've seen warnings against trying this all over the place across all sorts of EVs.

I suppose if you wanted to go about it in a roundabout way you could power a battery trickle charger from the V2L connector that would give you a middle of nowhere solution

Fuses protect against over current not over voltage.

I thought it was in the manual. You can jump start an EV from an ICE car, but never never do it the other way round.

I suppose if you wanted to go about it in a roundabout way you could power a battery trickle charger from the V2L connector that would give you a middle of nowhere solution

Or you could take the battery connections off your 12v when connecting to the other car, but there may be some things that require re-initialisation when you connect back up, one touch windows for example.

I’d never jump start off an ev 12 volt battery.
That’s why I carry the little “ pocket” jump start unit.
It’ll start my ev if required and easily jump start anything up to about 3 litre diesels.
It’s under the passenger seat and checked for charge two or three times a year. Never had to use it yet.

The cost of a power pack - circa £50 - which you could keep in the van so useful when the van is not with the car, is a lot easier and more useful.

You’ll only waste that hard earned cash and come back in a rage saying that the dam stupid thing cost a fortune and has collected dust and has just been extra weight carted about in the car for absolutely no reason for all that time ………???? ……..

It’s more for the motorhome that’s in storage than for the car! ????

When the motorhome is in storage why not remove the battery & keep it somewhere warm and change up before refitting?

Erm! I’ve watched a mechanic replace the battery and it was difficult for him! For me not gonna happen ??
