MG4 Software Update Thread

My car has MCU version 131.2.5.0. Could this be a version produced specifically for Turkey?

Yes, the navigation language is in English. Even though I select Turkish from the infotainment screen, when I activate voice navigation it works, but the menu only shows the climate control. In the previous R59 version, navigation was integrated into the screen, but unfortunately in the current XX version, it is not available.
As I said, it's because your car is running the wrong software. It's not supposed to show DBI something, MG4 was supposed to show SWIXX or SWIXXX (X = digit)
My 2023 plate is a MY22 and got SWI68 build, some have 2024 plate as MY24 and build is SWI133.
If I install MY24 build on my MY22 build, it'll mess up all system and I couldn't roll back to MY22 build.

Looking at the photo above it looks to be running SWI169-29958-1100R39
 
Hello, I have MG4 SE 2023 (bought in Germany). I wanted to update MCU and MPU however I found out I do not have ‘Entertainment System Version’ option in Service menu. Please see screen picture attached. I tried to click on MPU version but nothing.
Update nor Resource Update is any help. Any tips please how to upgrade?

How did you enter the service menu?
 
That's the problem. I cannot enter service menu. 🤔
On the standard model there's a procedure to do so.


Look at the section mentioning SE/Exite model (that's what you have). It should work.

Thanks a lot. Was worth a try. BUT it looks I cannot get password since 1) generator does not work for older FW like mine R08 and 2) Also password extracting does not work on SystemUI V1.0.067 like mine. So I can try 3) complicated extraction of APK from my MG4 and looking for pwd there. Or more complex and complicated 4) upgrade using SIPS. Easiest would be 5) find local dealer (in Slovakia) how can do that. :)
Any other tip? :D

my dealer in Kosice did update without hesitation and for free. AFAIK you need to do full SIPS update to have fixed HVAC temperature offiset.

Anyway I installed update on my 51kwh SE - R38 to R40 via dialling service menu ##4479#* without needing to input any password

UPDATE: I update MPU using USB Update in Engineering mode. So now i have R40 MPU updated. And I can access also engineering mode. :) I also have AVN-VIP (or MCU) 69.1.0.9 so it seems it was updated together right? :)
 
I had my second service today. 23 plate phase 1 Trophy.

I've been through R30, R33, R46, R63 and after today's visit, R67. Different garage this time. They told me this update was specifically to fix the bluetooth issues. We shall see. No dramas getting it updated, they actually immediately offered as soon as I mentioned BT.

No other obvious changes I can see.
 
i'm jealous, my dealer in Kyiv Ukraine does not update Infotainment system even after BT issues
I don't know how ot works at Ukrain, but i just filed a lawsuit (it called "small lawsuit" without lawyer) against the MG official importer. Updates is mandatory by the manufacturer at every service.

You are in Israel, so different laws in your country.

Where is this information written? I understand that the dealer which is only the agent here in Germany must cover the updates costs or you pay them yourself. MG will only pay when it is a known an accepted issue.

There is a service portfolio at iSmart Europe with all the things that should be included at the service (Service A and service B) software updates is part of both of them.
This should be part of the service cost.

Its not something that the dealer have a "say". Its part of the official manufacturer service program in the EU.
