Those A series were pretty tough. All the ones I drove did well over 100K miles with no complaints. Not like these modern eco-boom type power plants!Yeah the BMC / Leyland brand MGs only started with the 1100 / 1300 cars I think. My dreams of a Minor MG were probably the reason the crankshaft broke - mind you it carried on (clanking painfully) for quite a few miles before I dropped the sump and replaced the shaft. Those were the days. Couldn’t afford new so pulled the replacement out of a scrap car behind Lamb’s garage in Banchory and scraped together enough to buy new bearing shells.
It never did become the MG of my dreams though
