Secret menu Mk2 - Pin

Wondering if anyone has connected to an MG4 over ADB? I have turned on ADB in the engineering menu on mine but after connecting a laptop the car doesn't show up in ADB. I've tried both USB ports..

Which version of MG4? On the higher spec it's pretty easy to turn on.

On the lower spec we haven't figured it out yet.
I've gotten as far as turning off Carplay /Android Auto and switching between USB Host and OTG mode but haven't been able to turn on ADB yet.

Sorry I'm not sure what its called in other places as I'm in NZ. But I have the 64kWh 'fancy' version..

I have got into the eng menu and turned on the "ADB" switch. But it doesn't seem to do anything.

Sorry, I've got the 51 Excite so it's a totally different software setup, can't help much other than having seen photos of the ADB option that you've already found..

There is a wiki thread giving the conversions:

I would assume that Aus and NZ have the same models?

Main one for me: has anyone got wireless AA enabled? Is it even possible?
I've wasted money on 2 different cheapo AliExpress wireless dongles which only half work at best.

I have tried HUR which kind of work but not stable... Either you lose the wifi hotspot connection or Bluetooth....a bit sluggish....when you read the conditions on HUR author ticket you can understand why it is not so simple...you need to have reliable connection between your phone and HeadUnit...

I was attempted with SELF mode but couldn't make it work unfortunately...

Not sure if bugs are fixed in latest version... I have tried HUR 7.2.1 and latest AA 13.2 but gives me error code 17 incompatible software probably because there is also another AA v1.0.0 comes out of stock HU...

Worst case I will simply user the custom version of waze like chuppito directly from the HU otherwise buy a dongle..

Unless wireless is supposed to be working out of stock ??? I'm saying that because when you click AA logo from home screen it says something like enable Bluetooth/wifi it doesn't say wireless not supported but I guess it is a generic message maybe ?

200519 is the pin for mg4 could be the same but for some reason I can't find where to put it the 5 taps don't appear to be working?
200519 worked for me!

Great news but with 4 pages on this thread, do you mind going through all the steps to save needing to read back through all the 70 replies in this thread.

Where do you start, I assume you touch all 4 corner clockwise starting from ?

I assume this will work on my 2023 ZS EV fitted with the 10.1" screen.

How do you turn on OTG mode mate?

The one I got from AliExpress for a few quid works fine for the past 12 months. The only thing I have to do is unplug it when I turn the car off as it won't play music when I turn the car on again. This is due to my phone Bluetooth fighting it ...

In the menu where you can see the what version the infotainment is running, if you press the version string 5 times, it pops up a dialog, asking for a pincode.

I wonder what's behind that pincode. The secret menu perhaps :)

Must enter 6 digits before the "OK" button becomes active so quite a lot of possibilities :)
From the original post it states "version the infotainment is running, if you press the version string 5 times,", this does not work on my 2023 ZS EV

Can anyone help with how to get into this unit please?

Go to the dial pad and type

##4479#*

This will open the menu, however I have been unable to find a password to enter the in depth engineering mode from here. To access the engineering mode password prompt, tap in the bottom right hand corner of the screen 5 times. To my knowledge the password isn’t known to progress any further and if you have a valid warranty, it wouldn’t be wise to do so.

I think you are talking about the older 9" screen, mine is the 10.1" flat screen and does not have a dial pad

Definitely the 10.1” screen, without going out to the car, to get to the dial pad the process was Telephone icon > Keypad icon (on the right). I think on my first attempt I connected my phone via Bluetooth because it made accessing the dial pad easier. If you don’t have any luck, let me know and I’ll attach a video to this thread tomorrow! My car is also a 2023 ZS EV so shouldn’t be any material differences hopefully

For reference, phone icon on the bottom then keypad on the right. This is on the UK model so I’m unsure if this is the same in the AU version.

Ah, the penny finally drops. I thought you were referring to the round knob below the screen on the 9" HU

I re-read the whole thread yesterday and that was eluding me and there are probably other not realising.

Will try it and report back :)
