It's just a glitch.

I’m anaspeptic, frasmotic, even compunctious to have caused you such pericombobulation. Is it plugged in?
Is it turned on?
Have you tried turning it on and off again?
Have you bisected the generative quadrophonic interface with a polaron bypass?
This a UK forum, so please post in English in futureI’m anaspeptic, frasmotic, even compunctious to have caused you such pericombobulation.
That is exactly what Zelensky said after they kicked him out of the White House...I’m anaspeptic, frasmotic, even compunctious to have caused you such pericombobulation.
Considering the theme of your screen it looks like you may be on older infotainment software. I believe the random orange bar was a bug in older software. Although it may still be there in current versions, I’m not sure of this.14 pages on and no official answer
I've never seen the bar turn orange, even as remaining battery gets to 2%.
I've only ever seen it (on two occasions now) when starting the car.
I've not noticed any regen issues when driving the car (I'm usually set at 3, and only have reduced regen when battery is at 100%, and I get a warning when starting a journey if battery is at 100%)
So far, I've always had green bars when restarting the car for the next journey.
I don't think the colour is weather related (orange bars appeared on "average" days)
Finally, here's my orange bar pic

Well, it does 'work' consistently as the vast majority of cars are working in exactly that way. There will always be a tiny minority of cars with some issues, mostly very minor or often a misunderstanding by the user. That actually sounds reasonable, but obviously it doesn't work consistently.
For me the orange bar appears randomly and very infrequently about once every 2 or 3 months. Regardless of SOC or weather. Reverts to green next time screen switched on. Also very, very infrequently the info screen goes blank.Considering the theme of your screen it looks like you may be on older infotainment software. For me the bar doesn’t go orange until very low state of charge.
It ,It I'm not an It, cheeky burger. Now sure how much we can rely on this, it was an AI generated explanation. I don't know where it found its data.
Green:
Indicates a healthy battery and a sufficient state of charge, or that the battery is actively charging or discharging.
Orange:
Suggests that the battery is not charging, there might be a charging system issue, or the battery is low. It's also been reported that the orange indicator can appear when the 12V battery is being topped up by the DC-DC converter.
Red:
Indicates a serious problem with the battery or the charging system, such as a critically low battery level or a fault.
Who has told you that? It’s a j bug and it was fixed in later software releases. It’s likely your cars both need several updates not just software.
I wish MG dealers just did it without being scaredy cats.
The eCall system has a complete fix available. I know because I got it at the fourth attempt.I get this orange bar weekly so for me it's more of a feature now, just like the weekly eCall system fault/failure messages. It is likely a software race condition.
This is not true . The 12v battery charges when the car is in ready mode and also when charging the HV battery. This can be seen by looking at the 12v battery voltage which will be close to 14v when charging. Mine has never been orange. It is supposed to be a traffic light system according to HV state of charge but it appears to not work properly on the MG4.Saw a post somewhere, not on this forum, suggesting that the battery gauge turns orange when the HV battery is being used to charge the 12v battery via the DC-DC convertor. Having said that, I've never seen it orange on mine except when the HV battery was low.
