No luck with having a replacement CCU fitted - garage say they ordered the correct part, but what was in the box was wrong - only took them 2 weeks to discover this. They are now trying to get the correct part (from 16th December) but no progress so far - seems there are none available in the UK, unless others can report this is not the case. No clear timescales on when a part might be available.

Sorry to hear that timE. That’s frustrating. Looks like those of us with this problem will have to wait a bit longer for the replacement part to be sent from China.

Someone on another thread had this problem and after a few weeks it eventually started stopping when charging on Rapid chargers too, so they have been without their car since for some weeks waiting for parts. 🙁

I do hope that's a rare problem and not the eventual fate of all of us with this issue.

I don’t like the sound of that. Not being able to charge at all would turn a minor inconvenience into a serious problem.

My Dad's MG4 Trophy is having similar issues. Charges fine on DC including a trip to Scotland over Xmas, but not charging at home reliably, charging very slow and keeps dropping out. It will re-start fine if you have the time to keep podging the button in the MG app, but still charges very slowly.

Tried it on my charger here when they where visiting, and same issue.

His is booked in with Holdcroft MG Stoke on 5th Jan - will report back if they manage to fix it. They've quoted the software upgrade might fix it solution, but my hunch is a hardware issue and it had been working just fine up to then.

That sounds very much like the issue I and others in this thread have been reporting. I think I’m right in saying that at least one member was able to have the problem fixed by the software updates, but for the majority of us this has not worked. Would’ve been great (for us and MG) if that’s all it took, but as your hunch says it’s more likely to be a hardware issue. Let us know how your Father gets on. Edited to say, out of interest has this issue been reported by MG5 owners or is it exclusive to the MG4?

I’ve just had word from the garage that even after further software updates the car is still not performing as expected, so after getting confirmation from MG, a new CCU has been ordered with expected delivery by the end of the month. 🤞In the meantime, I’ll pick the car up and charge it using DC rapid charging. How’s everyone else getting on?

Still waiting to hear back - we are at the same point so I presume we'll get the same result.

If all goes according to plan, we should both be back up and running on AC charging in the not too distant future, tsedge. 👍
Hope so - just spoke to someone at the garage and they said a part has been ordered - they will give us the details tomorrow (it was middle of customer pick-ups).

Same for me, expecting a new CCU early Jan.

All these cases seem to point at a batch issue, hopefully it'll be a slam dunk for my car when it goes to be examined. Are the replacement CCU units the same as the original ones (3 phase), and, has anyone actually use the 3 phase charging?

Sorry, I didn’t think to ask, but I’ve never used 3 phase charging with the old unit.

Good question - I don't and I wouldn't miss it. But then if they are going to remove that wouldn't they also need to swap the charge port out too? Would be very odd to have the pins but not the capability.

In some ways I'd rather not get a like for like replacement as it might increase the chances of anotber failure in the future.
