Apple MG Meopham Aftersales - MG Dealer Discussion, Opinions & Experiences

Fast, efficient and friendly service after taking my MG5 to get its KERS3 recall and 1st service. The garage is a bit out in the sticks, but easy to find using Waze.

    Regeneration brake lights

I've had mine done, at the same time as its first service. At night, if you look carefully in the rear view mirror, you can see the reflection of the centre brake light on the rear wiper and on street furniture. It works exactly as it should now and it feels totally comfortable to drive...

    After a full change

Yep. Spot on. Full charge on the MG 5 is in the low 400s voltage range. Eco mode with HVAC off will give you around the 214 miles mark and this will vary with outside temperature.

    Rolec/ev.energy

With the Ohme app you just tell it how much percent you want to add
  5. bb1922

    Rolec/ev.energy

On a Rolec smart charger, that is unlikely. The amount of time the car is connected has no bearing on whether the car will wake up to charge. The problem is purely due to an incompatibility due to the way the MG expects to be signalled to wake up. This wake-up signal needs to be initiated by...

    Rolec/ev.energy

@Stuwit46 I'm sorry to hear you are also struggling with your charger. Take a look at my thread for Rolec smart charging issues: https://www.mgevs.com/threads/mg5-ev-exclusive-in-westminster-silver-order-placed-charger-options.723/ See also my article on chargers in general...

MG EVs Podcast Monday 29th March 2021 @ 7:30pm BST

That's a point... @Stuart Wright The intro screen needs amending! The countdown clock that ticks over to 19:30:00 at the start of the podcast says UTC after it, but now we're forward an hour, it either needs amending to BST, or the time needs to be amended to 18:30:00 (18:30 UTC = 19:30 BST)

    Best Trip to date...

Today's trip home from work combined with two school runs. I can't sustain this every day, some days I get 2.9, but today is 4.4 miles/kWh. I have noticed that the most dramatic effect on fuel consumption is not driving style, but outside temperature. When it's +6C or below, particularly when...

MG5 EV Exclusive in Westminster Silver order placed -- charger options?

Final update. Success at last! The Ohme charger has been successfully installed for around 3 weeks now. And, it works flawlessly. I've also had my smart meter installed (another long story, which involved me needing to take down and modify the kitchen cupboard to make space for the new meter...

    Overnight charging

That ev.energy chart shows half-hour time slices. 3.5kWh in 30 minutes means your charger was running at a 7kW rate which is about right. You are getting kW confused with kWh. The former is power and the latter is energy.
  11. bb1922

    Why not 9kW?

There are 22kW home chargers available. However, they require: A 3 phase supply to the home A vehicle that has the ability to charge on AC at that rate Both MG EV models can only charge on AC at approximately 7kW max. So, they cannot take advantage of a higher powered residential AC charger.

Mud flaps worth getting? Does it affect range?

I have the mud flaps on my 5 as a dealer fit. Anecdotally, they appear to make a significant difference in keeping the sides of the car less dirty, despite them being so small they don't look like they'll do anything. They're not 100% effective, but the car seems to get less dirty than my Honda...

    Washing the car

There is nothing in the manual of either the ZS EV or the 5 EV that states you cannot use a car wash. There is a limitation on not using an automatic car wash when using a space saver. There is also a warning on being careful when using a jet wash. Of course, whether automatic car washes are...

    Choosing a home fast charger

Choosing a home fast charger First and foremost: Any home charger will give the car a basic charge. However, all chargers are not equal. The charger needs to fit your needs. Things to consider: Do I need a home fast charger? In the UK, the MG ZS EV and MG 5 EV both come with a 13-amp 3-pin...

MG5 owners only. Post on here what you think of the car.

Yep. Same. It does exactly what it's supposed to do, with no fuss. There's nothing to post really as nothing has gone wrong. It's a decent estate car that drives beautifully, and that's all there is to say really.
