Reverse Camera SE LR

I've just completed that task over a few days.
There are no holes to drill except one in the hatch plastic trim near the opening handle.
If anyone is interested, I can explain how it's done.
Hi Cocole,
I’m trying to install the same camera on my SR and have removed the boot lid inside trim OK, but can’t get the outside plastic (lightbar on the Trophy) off so that I can mount the camera. I’ve removed the 9x 8mm nuts securing it and pushed the wire grommets through but there are a couple of clips either side that won’t budge, and/or something else is retaining it. Any advice please? Thanks!

Hi, that was the hardest part of the whole process.
It's retained with 2 white clips, one at each end.
I could not push them from the inside so I had to pull very hard to remove that spoiler.

Didn't need to remove the outside sidebar. Drilled a hole where the camera is going to be places and then on the inside of the boot, i pulled of the rubber which housed the wire for the light near the boot button, and basically guided the wire from the drilled hole into there

Thanks Cocole, I managed to get it off with a firm pull. I did find that I could partially release the clips by pushing in on the rear side; that moves in a bit and helps. Despite that though I managed to damage the right hand one by foolishly twisting it off after the left hand one released - note to others don't do that! It's not bad though and perfectly secure with the 9x bolts holding it back on.
I did find the rear window rubber was hard to keep above the spoiler during refitting and wanted to snag, but I put some duck tape under it and used that to raise it during refitting, which helped a lot.

Great video. I'm thinking about ordering one too. Did you have to route the cable all the way from the back to the glove box?

I will have to, I'll record as part 2 of the video when I do it.

Only managed to fit the electronics so far, expect cable front to back to be easy, but I'm not too excited about removing the boot lid spoiler to fit the camera.

Yup, also thinking about it. But aliexpress now shows a confusing "Sorry this item is no longer available" while also saying 47 are in stock, and apparently no way to place the order.

Part two of my effort to install is here and covers the back of the car, including removing the boot lid spoiler - without forcing the white clips.

Part three is here, removing the back seat and routing the cable to the front of the car.

The AleExpress unit I ordered is here but yes it does currently indicate that it can't be ordered. I'm sure I spotted other sellers providing it.

I'm very happy with the result, I'd say the only special tools used would be a hose clamp tool like this and some pry tools. If I did it again, I'd pay very particular attension to the camera and buy one with some adjustment of the camera eyeball, not critical but I've a white car and at night the top of the bumper is very bright.

Current active AliExpress ad seems to be here with nearly 100 available.

Also for anybody fitting one, I think I'd consider using an adjustable camera like this just to adjust the finished view to the optimum angle. The camera I used is absolutely fine but everything can always be just that little bit better. I'd adjust the angle of view up a little so I see less of the cars bumper. Of course the spoiler might then come into view as these cameras have 170 deg of view.

Clicking on it I see:

🤷‍♂️
DriveLink seems to be the seller on AE, if I follow my order history it suggests the seller is on holiday, there were at least two listings for this item and both are the same seller. I now see this message on both ads, yesterday it was only one.

I have sent the seller a question re further sails, will report back if I rcv and answer.

This will be such a shame if the unit becomes unavailable, it's working great.

oops Sales not sails!!
Did receive a response from the AliExpress store of DriveLink stating they will sell more MG4 reversing cameras and asking how many would I like?

If you want one I'd suggest asking them direct to sell one - but through AliExpress obviously for the buyer protection. They're still there but responses have been sluggish.

Buyer protection? It's a Chinese/Hong Kong marketplace - there is no buyer protection worth speaking of. :)

I've used it myself (mud flaps for example) but I treat such places as "if nothing arrives or it isn't as described, tough titty".
