    I’m in N Wales

Had a great holiday in N Wales last year - charging on site though so didn’t need much else. booking.com and presumably some other sites let you filter results by ‘has charging’ which was definitely a good idea

    Clocks go forward charger

Last year that's exactly what happened with my Easee One charger, perhaps that's just particularly poor on the software front, as one might perhaps guess from the name. Hopefully others aren't as bad

Tesla Opening Up Supercharger Network - A BAD Idea

Yes the next v4 chargers have longer leads for that reason I think, but it may take quite a while for them to filter through and become the majority

EV opposition in the media is ramping up

It is at least a relief to listen to someone relatively sane explain their thoughts in a measured way. I don't want to watch anti-EV youtube rants by various others, so this is the only one I've seen where I can get them from the horse's mouth. Yes we may disagree with some points but...

    The Pointless (?) Journeys Thread

It re-maps the 'throttle' so you get more power at less travel, but it doesn't change the max. power - you still get exactly the same full power if you floor it. I keep it in normal too.

    Friends and family reactions

Well done all for your sterling work, nice to hear. I guess as EVs become more common and more owners speak to more people, we'll reach a tipping point of understanding.

    Friends and family reactions

I think today was the first time someone said 'I like the electric car' without any qualifications or questions, which was nice! Another more typical conversation over the Xmas holidays was along the lines of nice car, it's electric is it? [something about charging] me: well it's a long range...

    Daylight saving confuses Easee

Noticed my Easee One charger had changed itself to start charging at 11:30pm today instead of 12:30am when my cheap rate electricity starts. The end time moved forward too I think but whilst editing that fixed it, whenever you tried to change the start to 00:30, it reverted back to 11:30pm...

    iSmart Travel function, help please

Noticed an update for the app in the Apple app store yesterday, after applying the crash no longer happens for me at any rate! However curb your enthusiasm, the functionality, like the rest of the app is still rubbish. It shows chargers near you, but nothing about them, just 'this is a charger...

Insurance has now got to an absolutely ridiculous price

I've no personal experience yet but Saga advertise themselves as doing cheaper car insurance for old people

    Informational: EV units explained

The old water analogy is often used - e.g. skip down to 'Power and Energy' here: https://www.freeingenergy.com/understanding-the-basics-of-electricity-by-thinking-of-it-as-water/ where the battery is the equivalent of the bucket

    How worried should we be?

No it's not the most egregious data breach I've ever heard of but still, in the larger scheme of things, if a company has internal processes which allow customer data of any sort to be sent to other customers, then it's a sign that data security in general might not be the highest priority. If...

    How worried should we be?

That does seem concerning, if it were me I would probably next follow this process - https://ico.org.uk/for-the-public/how-to-make-a-data-protection-complaint/ even though you're not certain it's personal data, it could be. At least it might make the dealer and/or MG take it a bit more seriously.

    Easee One Home Charger query

I have one, it does need a Wi-Fi connection for the app, though I guess it would be possible to do any initial setup with your mobile hotspot or something then just ensure it’s set to always on and let it be, I.E plug in to use. Alternatively, put a Wi-Fi range extender somewhere near it, so you...

    Charging apps pet peeve

Ah yes ok, obviously just needed to look a bit closer. PlugShare doesn’t that I can see but the orange ones seem to be fast and ABRP seems to be that the three lightning bolts are anything over 50kw.

    Charging apps pet peeve

Whenever I download and try an app to find charging stations or charge at them, they all seem to have various colour codings for the chargers on the map but no key. The latest is VendElectric, which apparently I have to use for holiday cottage charging. The chargers are blue or green but there...

Over-voltage mains supply problem causing Smart Charger to trip out

Just another experience on this topic - I've had voltages fluctuating up to 253V ever since I've had the car and charger, since March, so every now and again the charger refuses to work. Today I noticed the voltage went up to 254V, over the 10% upper limit, so emailed my operator (found from...

Tesla Superchargers could this be the next open to all makes I hope so

Probably not any time soon as the EU have only mandated CCS2 for all new cars sold (including Tesla I believe). Plus the CCS 2 we have here is better than the CCS 1 which the states use, which doesn’t have a locking pin from what I’ve heard

Which EV route planning app do you prefer please?

Don't route plan as such on an app, but if I'm going to need to charge when out, have a look on PlugShare to see what's near, then maybe Electroverse to see if any of them are supported by that or whether I need another app, then use Google maps to get there - I trust that better for traffic etc.
