charger
A battery charger, or recharger, is a device that stores energy in a battery by running an electric current through it. The charging protocol (how much voltage or current for how long, and what to do when charging is complete) depends on the size and type of the battery being charged. Some battery types have high tolerance for overcharging (i.e., continued charging after the battery has been fully charged) and can be recharged by connection to a constant voltage source or a constant current source, depending on battery type. Simple chargers of this type must be manually disconnected at the end of the charge cycle. Other battery types use a timer to cut off when charging should be complete. Other battery types cannot withstand over-charging, becoming damaged (reduced capacity, reduced lifetime), over heating or even exploding. The charger may have temperature or voltage sensing circuits and a microprocessor controller to safely adjust the charging current and voltage, determine the state of charge, and cut off at the end of charge.
Chargers may elevate the output voltage proportionally with current to compensate for impedance in the wires.A trickle charger provides a relatively small amount of current, only enough to counteract self-discharge of a battery that is idle for a long time. Some battery types cannot tolerate trickle charging; attempts to do so may result in damage. Lithium-ion batteries cannot handle indefinite trickle charging.
Slow battery chargers may take several hours to complete a charge. High-rate chargers may restore most capacity much faster, but high rate chargers can be more than some battery types can tolerate. Such batteries require active monitoring of the battery to protect it from overcharging. Electric vehicles ideally need high-rate chargers. For public access, installation of such chargers and the distribution support for them is an issue in the proposed adoption of electric cars.
Just before Easter my OHME charger lost connection with my app. After email to OHME, they did try to fix the problem but without any luck. They asked network providers for solution but due to Easter, it tooks few more days. It wasn't a huge inconvenience, as I could still charge my car. Lily...
Just bought this extension lead. As far a I can see it seems to be able to handle the load.

Just plugged the car into my Ohme charger and the app is not showing the car as being plugged in.
The car display shows a charge taking place, but at first showed the charge would take five hours, then switched to 17hours!! I need the car at 9am tomorrow!
The Ohme charger itself is showing...
just seen this posted by Modern Heroes on Youtube.
I believe he posts on here too. I have just had the same problem caused by I think my home wallbox. (installer is coming to check)
Hi I have been having a problem charging my MG ZS EV with my Granny Cable. When I got the car a couple of months ago it worked fine, but this week when I tried to charge the car it started charging but after a couple of minutes I got the message "Connected but not charging" and this has been...
I'm going to start designing and then printing a wall holster.
Any suggestions for what a good design would be, or photos of your installs would be useful.
I'm getting the ohme charger, so it will be for that if it's any different to others.
My thinking is:
do I want it to plug in from the...
Went to Durham city today food shopping in the Prince bishop’s shopping centre car park they have 6 Pod-Point chargers free for first two hours then £5 a hourly after that ?
I know that this might be an obvious thing but my home 7kw charger has a very long tethered charging cable and I sometimes use it with a couple of windings still on the holder if the car that I’m charging is really close to it. Is this ok or is it like an extension lead and bad practice?
Our MGZSEV now covered 700 miles.
Apart from two free public charge visits the Granny charger has been used to refuel it whilst we looked at suitable home chargers.
Those Granny charges have been showing 450+ volts and 150+ mile range in normal, even during cold conditions.
Just as we were...
Well what an idiot I felt today. Took daughter to school, got out car and saw the big flat thing sticking up at the front of the car!
Luckily my little led pir light I'd stuck inside hadn't fallen loose/out.
Think a little warning light is needed!
I'm still using the granny charger for charging my ZSEV at the moment until I get the armoured cable laid, so I'm making a "granny charger" board to go on the wall of the garage to keep it off the floor & out of harms way.
Oh! Senior moment yesterday  wondering why I couldn't plug the...
In the Ohme App you pick your car from the list.
Noticed they have added new entries.
Any idea why there is a difference between excite and exclusive? Or are they just being complete.
Anyone know what the difference is between them?
Just had my project ev charger fitted today the reasons I went for this one is that it’s got good app support no earth rod required it has load levelling plus a 5 year warranty they done a great clean job all wiring is outside including it’s own consumer unit thanks Armstrong renewables from...
Hi. First post here! I'm thinking of purchasing an MG5 and unsure as to which wall charger I should opt for. Is there a general consensus on what brands to go for / avoid? And does it make any difference who my energy supplier is as to what box I get?
Thanks in advance for your feedback!
This is a list of the main networks providing rapid chargers in the UK and Ireland correct as of 28/02/2021. The list is aimed at people wanting CCS rapid (50kW+) chargers for use by the majority of EV cars.

I am doing my first home charge using a wallbox charge unit. I have not loaded the app before starting charge the charge seems to be going ok.
Does the charge cable get locked during charge if so how do i stop charge? How long will it run until it stops itself.
Anyone any ideas?
Kind Regards...
When I bought my MG5 in early January I had no place to home charge and was hoping I could charge at local shops. The nearest chargers were over a mile away and usually have parking charges. So far I've done much of my charging for free at Tesco and Sainsbury's.
Doing a full balance charge...
Are you looking to get a home EV charger?
I have just had an OHME smart charger fitted today.
I would like to recommend Right Charge to make initial enquiries.
