All-new MG4 enters mass production in China, official debut set for August

But RWD is so much more fun. ;)

Especially if you leave the factory tyres fitted. :sneaky:

Yeah their range estimates are ridiculously optimistic. I think NEDC claims 505km for the Trophy 64 kWh which I have never seen, not even when I drove the car of the dealership lot (I think it said 485 km of range then).
This might get closer

Or even what fuel. 😉🙂👍
Could come in handy! If anyone happens to park up near a bunch of shifty looking yoofs you could grab their attention by shouting " Oi, I've took the batteries out ! " and show them a couple of AA batteries you keep in your pocket for just such occasions. Also handy as makeshift knuckledusters should they take it the wrong way!!! :cautious:

Oh no not the double A’s

And wouldn't suprise me at all, if some of um, believed you. 🙄🤪

Am I missing something (a few brain cells perhaps), but people are talking about front wheel drive, but the blurb online for the new MG4 in China is saying "The MG4 is equipped with a 70 kWh battery pack and a 120 kW (163 hp) rear-mounted motor, configured as a single-motor rear-wheel-drive system."

Yeah I just read that too, but that’s not what they told media in Australia, I wonder if the author of that article is getting their MG4s mixed up already?

I must be honest, I am not a fan of the new design. It looks anonymous compared with the sharp lines of the original.

Same here, I think SAIC / MG should have been a bit bolder with their design of the new MG4 and also the new IM5 and IM6. I'm thinking more Polestar like, but ETTO 😉😊👍

Agree. Although no doubt, very good cars.
And wouldn't put me off, a lM5 performance.
They are a Tad bland. 🙂👍

I fear the new one will be in the UK from next shipments, still cannot see why SAIC would build both versions.

I think there's some confusion here.

My dealer said to me:
  • This year the UK MG4 will get an interior facelift similar to the MGS5 but exterior unchanged.
  • Next year, the UK will get the all-new MG4 (that the chinese are getting this year).

Also, there's a new VW polo-sized FWD EV coming late this year, may be called the MG2 in the UK, TBD.

Remember it isn't called the MG4 in China anyway, so it is easy to get models confused.
