I'm about to take delivery of an MGS5 and I need a towbar. However, dealer says that they are not yet available from the manufacturer, and likely to be 6 months or more away. I have contacted 7 of the largest towbar suppliers in Australia but none of them have been able to help.

Has anyone in Australia had a towbar fitted to an MGS5? If so, could you give me details of the supplier/installer you used ?

Thanks,
Nick

UPDATE
So, I got the towbar installed today at TowriteTowbars in north Brisbane (organised through MG). Apparently they are the design/manufacturing/wholesale arm of the business and SpeedyTowbars are the SEQ retail/installers.

Everything went well, and the towbar is very neat - and discrete when the ball is removed. Square 50mm hitch with removable ball. Just a small cut out required in the very underside panel - not visible unless you get down on the ground. Very happy.

Apparently, TowriteTowbars manufacture and ship all over Australia, so you should be able to get one through your local retailer (they told me they had just shipped a pallet load to Melbourne).

I've been watching this question remain unanswered for a month now.

I'm very keen to get an MGS5 soon, perhaps in a month or so. But I too want a towbar. In my case, it will be used for a bicycle carrier, because putting a bike inside a car is an absolute pain in the neck.

The MGS5 is rated for towing, but there isn't a towbar available.

Ideally, I'd prefer a factory-fitted option. It's just easier for insurance.

MG might miss out on a sale here. If there is no towbar available anyway, I'll probably save some cash and get a cheaper Dolphin. That can't tow, but without a towbar, neither can the MG.

We have just ordered the MGS5 62 and a towbar was also something we deemed necessary - our dealership in Werribee said they should be available within a month.

Could you consider a roof-rack? I ordered from MGTitan at a very good price.

Roof racks aren't a good solution for bikes. It's difficult to lift a heavy bike up there and mess around positioning it properly. My wife, for example, would simply never use it.

Roof racks with a bike or two up there are also incredibly bad for aerodynamic efficiency. I can see that impacting the EV range.

And, of course, there always that moment when you return home and drive into the garage . . .

Towbar is available here (Norway) according to dealer. I skipped installing one as they were asking in excess of 20000kr (~£1470 / aud3000). I think this is one that stows away tho, not sure..

I really need one myself but im waiting for cheaper alternatives.

This is amazing and exactly what we are looking for. Can I ask how much it was to buy and install? We pick up our MGS5 in two or three weeks and would like to get this done.
