Charging my first EV MG4

Can you advise the best charging practice please?
All you need do is not leave it at a very high (90-100%) or a very low (<20%) state of charge for long periods (weeks+).

If it's the 64 or 77 kWh battery then most of the time leave the car's charge setting in health mode, which limits charging to 80% anyway. Then every so often charge it to 100% (e.g. in prep for a longer trip), or roughly monthly.

Else just charge when convenient and cheap.
 
I suppose 'best' is always subjective and varies due to lots of things.

I try to do as much charging outside of the core IOG hours as possible as this means it makes the overall electricity bill as low as possible. If I plug in early in the morning at say 7am and ask for 50% by 11am it has always done as requested (4 hours at c. 7kWh = 28kWh which is 50% of the SE SR battery).

Doing this 2 or 3 times a week will give me enough mileage and if I need a full charge for a long journey, or to do a balance charge, I can do an overnight charge.
 
I'm on tracker, and having crunched the numbers, for me personally, it's actually cheaper to charge on my current tariff because of the fixed rate at all other times, which is higher than what I pay day to day.

we dont plan to be in this property very long, less than it would take to pay off the install etc, and also its a terraced house so theres nowhere to put a battery unfortunately. We use max 15kw a day, usually around 8-10kw so not a great deal. What I was getting at, is that on our tracker tariff, the average is 22p per kw, with these EV tariffs, average is 27p. I only charge my car once a month, so I'd end up paying £10 MORE per month by being on the EV tariff because the main usage would be on the main rate.

Its unfortunate because I'd love solar, but its just not practical in this property.
