Diagnostic VDI, VNCI, MDI with MG4

Okay. Where can I find it ? Also IPK repgramming stopped and now the IPK is not turning on. What should I do... Its blank. Do I need to do reprogramme again or replacement ?
When an update fails, you need to disconnect the car from SIPS, restart the car, and restart the connection to SIPS. Sometimes, you need to reboot the car (or shut it down for a short time or disconnect the 12V battery).
Go slow and it'll be fine.

Thanks. I restarted it. Hoping to finish it soon. :)

Anyone familiar with these issues? Please let me know how to fix it.

Also FVCM ECU is not visible in SIPS programming ECU Lists. Not able to find the reason.

what is the error in sips for the fvcm?

Here is the Full Story :

I’m from India. I own an MG ZS EV 2022 model. At that time, ADAS regulations were not applicable in India, so MG sold this car with the same hardware as other markets (UK/AUS/EU) but with ADAS disabled in software.

In 2023, MG launched the ADAS variant in India using the same hardware configuration (radar + camera + ECU part numbers match).

What I’ve done so far:
  • Used official SAIC tools (SIPS + VDS)
  • Updated all ECUs (VCU, IPK, CCU, BCM, FDR, etc.)
  • Fixed initial failures caused by VCI communication issues
  • Now ECU software/config/calibration files match manufacturer DB
  • ADAS update shows “successful” in SIPS
  • IPK update completed
  • CCU updated and V2L enabled
  • VIN assigned correctly, no power/HV issues

Current status:
  • ADAS UI still not visible in cluster
  • FDR DTCs:
    • Radar misaligned
    • Radar alignment not done
    • Camera module failure / invalid data
    • ACC/AEB disabled due to missing calibration
  • Tool says Calibration Required

My conclusion so far:
ADAS is software-enabled, but blocked due to missing static calibration (radar + camera target calibration).

Questions:

  1. Has anyone here calibrated FDR + camera outside dealer calibration equipment?
  2. Is dealer target calibration mandatory to unlock ADAS UI?
  3. Any known region/feature-code/VIN lock that blocks ADAS even after correct software?
  4. Does IPK need a separate feature activation post-calibration to show ADAS UI?

Thanks in advance for any pointers 🙏

If its the same as the MG4 l, in SIPS you can do calibration, select FVCM calibration then take the car for a drive
Requires a straight road with street lights or signs etc driving 40-60 kiph.
IPK comes up with 25% intervals then says complete.
Pull up, lock the car for a few minutes. When you get back in it should say successful
If you still have SIPS connected, select FDR calibration and follow the same process.

It's been a while since I carried this out and it was written from memory so might not be 100%.
MG4: you have to lock to power off properly.
If you do the last bit wrong it'll come up calibration failed, which happened to me.

Thanks a lot. It's a very useful information for me. I will follow this procedure for FDR. My worry is FVCM, its not visible the in list of ECU's in SIPS software.

@haloweenhamster While performing calibration SIPS should be connected to OBD port and online or start calibration function and then disconnect SISP?

Log to SIPS like usual, use "Routine" section on the left and launch FDR and FVCM routine by following instructions, during process, you have to drive on a road with 2 lines and signalisation.
Once calibration is completed, turn down the car and wait for a minute (inside or outside but everything have to be shutdown) and restart the car.
Perform the second calibration in the same way and shutdown the car again.

Leave SIPS and leave the car for couple minutes.
After that, calibration should be successful and complete.

I'm not sure that answers the question ... after you've started the routines (and before you start driving), do you leave the system connected to the OBD port or do you remove it? Or does it not matter?

That's why I said "log to SIPS like usual" in the first sentence
You can't use SIPS without a VCI connected to OBD port.
So you stat connected to SIPS all along.
Reminder: if an ECU isn't reachable with SIPS, nothing could be done.

I've done both.
When I used a PC I started the calibration, disconnected OBD (left SIPS running on the PC), went for a drive, came back, got out, locked, unlocked, sat in & successfully came up, plugged back in and started the other one.

When I used a laptop, I left it connected with SIPS running, that way I could drive until it said 100% complete, pull over, the rest to get successful, then started the other one and drove back down the same road home.

I just received the "yellow" VNCI and have started installing all the software, and here are my questions.

1/ VNCI came with version SW v2.1 and is asking for a software upgrade to version SW v2.2. Should I upgrade?. Just in case I can't revert later.

2/ I installed VDS-014.566.679.126 PW-VDS3. Do I need to run Hotfix 19 afterward?

3/ I installed SIPS-19-11-24 PW-SIPS without any problems. When I run it, the login window appears. I hope this is correct.

4/ VCI Manager recognizes VNCI correctly, but during the installation, I think it asks for a Name and Company. Do these correspond to the account created in MG?

I'm not sure if I've forgotten something, and I'm sure more questions will arise when I try to connect. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks...

Not sure, I'd personally update but it's up to you if you want to try it first, it might be to include newer models

Yes install the newest hotfix

From memory that can be anything, mine is probably h in each

On the MG4:
SIPS is for programming and calibration,
VDS is for diagnostic & testing.

The software is for various manufacturers and models.

Some use VDS only and not SIPS, so require those functions within VDS.

You could send a request to MG China or SAIC to add the features but I wouldn't wait.

You mean VDS/SIPS programming features ? OR enabling the features for my VIN number ?
