Guess that clarifies a few things. So it looks like we will be losing the SE, and the ER. The current MG4 design will be available with only the 64 kWh battery, and either RWD or AWD (Xpower). The other design will be the MG4 Urban and come with two different batteries.

I suppose we could still have the Excite (SE LR) with the 64 kWh battery pack, but maybe they'll dump that too in favour of the Urban. I don't know if they want to purely separate them by battery capacity or by trim level.

The question now is will they adopt this approach for all RHD markets? If they continue building ERs for the UK why wouldn't they keep offering them in Aus?

Hi ,
on topic of hot weather (over 35°C) - I've noticed drastic battery performance drop , about 1/5 of regular less .
Have you seen same effect on your car ?

Nah my performance has dropped significantly this winter, I find that summer gives me more range generally, but I guess coming summer will tell if the range goes up again

Similar temps here for the last few weeks, sometimes higher, no drop in any performance noticed at all. My car is parked under under a large car port at home when not in use.

Well I have MG5 in the UK (not MG4 in Oz!!) and I find I cant' change the %age either way from 80%. It was working ok a week or so back. I checked the iSmart version and it's 3.0.1 which I think is very recent (last 4 days or so) so that could be the cause.

I can see why there are so many videos explaining how to open the wipers on the windscreen so you can wash or change them, as the Owner's Manual instructions are quite obtuse:
With the engine hood closed, <<Home>> press down the wiper stalk switch to Single Wipe position (see 'Wipers and Washers' in 'Instruments and Controls' section) and release within 20 seconds after clicking the symbol on the screen, and select “Safe - Power OFF” in sequence, then the wiper will automatically move to service position, and stop on the windscreen.
I cannot work out from these instructions what sequence you need to do things. But numerous youtube videos do explain it.

Anyway, while attempting this, I had a problem that I can't seem to resolve.

Whenever I go the the Safety tab of the Vehicle Settings, the "Power Off" button is red. If I press it, I get the warning "Function is available after vehicle is started". It doesn't matter if the engine is "Ready" or not, so I have no idea what it means, but the vehicle does not power down.

The wipers will move onto the windscreen if it tap the wiper stalk down, but will retract immediately if I get out of the seat. The only way I can do it is to get out of the seat first, and then reach in and tap down the wiper stalk.

I don't suppose anyone can explain what is going on?

I changed my wipers with the bonnet shut and the wipers in the normal park position. Lift the wiper slightly off the windscreen, press the square locking tab in and pull the old blade assembly off.

Hi @DannyB, the above video shows the procedure exactly as it should be, but I've found that if you do it while sat in the car, the wipers drop back down to their rest position as soon as you shuffle your bum on the seat while getting out of the car. So what I do is, Settings - Safety - Power Off- get out of the car - reach inside the car and press the Power Off confirmation - then flick the wiper stalk down.

Sorry, got confused, the power off control is a button. The question was directed at @DannyB.

I would say that having a Red Warning is a problem. I get the 'Function is available after vehicle is started' only after I have powered down the car using the power off button.

Normally the car shows 'Function only available (sic) in P gear'. If I put the car into Drive and hold with the P lever pressing the power off button does nothing.

I guess I was mostly confused by the Red Power Off button, when all the videos show it as pale grey, and by the lack of Confirmation dialog, as it did then power off shortly after (but not immediately). That's why I took the "Function is available after vehicle is started" message as a warning, thinking that Power Off was the function that was unavailable. Maybe those are changes with the latest software update? But I was still surprised none of the videos mentioned the need to be out of the seat when you do it.

I think there must have been a change to the software. My 2023 Trophy (no rear wiper) works as per the video. No red power off button.

I power off the car, push down the wiper stalk, up go the wipers and they stop at the required position. Exit the car to change the blades, get back in again and as the car powers up the wiper complete their single sweep.

Have you tried powering down with the driver's door open at the start of the process?

I got an email from my dealer saying my first 40k/2 year service was due so I booked on line. I've had no issues since I got the under tray fix done back in January 24 & now have over 35k km on the clock.
I went out to the garage to go into town & the drivers window won't open. Dead as a doornail. All other windows work as expected. Turned the car off & on, locked & unlocked, forced a full reboot but no cigar. Most likely the switch but at least it was a timely fail.

I'm booked in for service 23 September.

I gave them a list of things to check/go over, driver's seat squeak, cabin filter, check tyres and status of 12 V battery and would definitely like a software update though to hopefully make LKA less awful but I did forget about the undertray. It was fine when I last checked but it's been a long time. Will check and add that to my list in case they need to order the part.

Not done as many km as you, sitting at a bit under 27k km. Been a quiet few months for driving since we moved to the new place, only 2,050 km since start of May. Just been focussed on getting our home in order, fixing stuff, overdue maintenance, upgrades etc.

Not done any trips since April. Hoping to do a few more in the months/year or so ahead.

I note some new all-access Supercharger stations have opened in recent months on/near the Pacific Hwy:
  • New Italy
  • Moonee Beach
  • Kew
  • Gosford

But also the existing 6 station superchargers at Park Beach Plaza in Coffs Harbour are now marked by Tesla as open to all EVs.

There is quite an extensive list of checks for the service on the Geoff King web site for the 40k service. It includes the cabin filter & 12V battery. I asked for ALL software updates & a tyre rotation & resetting of the TPS so they are all on the correct corners plus of course the drivers window fault.

We recently moved to Gulmarrad & I have not installed my charger yet so using the granny charger & the other day used the Evie charger at Tyndale. Maxed out at 133kW & went down to 40kW when it got to the stop point of 80%. I have a credit so it was free.

Just had my 2 year 40k service at Pennant Hills MG. FYI - only 17k km driven. Nice enough people, but my learning from the experience -
  • I booked using the MG online system. Tried to call a few times to confirm, but the phone wasn't answered. I found that my request to have the under tray bulge kit didn't come through to them. So my suggestion if your service is coming up is to either persist with calling or, if convenient, pop in to make the booking
  • Although checking and updating the software is on the list for this service previously published by MG (see earlier pages), they didn't do it automatically as part of the service. So back to my original point, make sure it's on the list when booking
  • They changed the brake fluid, although I thought that was at 4 years / 80k km. I guess that's a bonus, as the price was still $296
They have asked for the car to go back to work out and fix the charging lights issue and apply the under tray bulge kit, so I will ask them to update the software. We have false AEB triggers in a particular location, so that can be used for warranty purposes, if required. Pennant Hill have been OK for our other car which is a Kia. In fact MG and Kia service are combined in this multi brand dealership. They fixed the radar sensor on the Kia as warranty a few years back, though the actual reason was mud in the sensor when my son took it to Splendour in the Grass.
