Mine failed a few weeks ago. The car is booked in for a service at the end of next week. I told them about it when I booked it in, but I know what they're like. So this morning I drove to the dealer with a list, on paper, of the three software issues I expected them to sort out, and the door handle issue. At first I got the whole, well we have to see the car and confirm it's a warranty issue and then order the parts and so on... I kept saying, the car is out there, if you want to look now. I know it's a common fault and I did tell you when I booked the service. It's not going to be a surprise to you. Is it beyond the wit of man to get this underway so you can fit it at the time of the service? Oh well, we're very busy. How long does it take to look at a car door handle that's about 50 yards away?
In the end the receptionist went backstage and was away for a few minutes. When she came back she said OK, he's going to order the part and get it in for you. Nobody actually went out to the car!
So it can pay to be pushy with these dealers. Although I won't believe it has worked until I pick the car up and it's done.
