Hello, sorry. I don't understand nothing of cars, can you make a complete tutorial of how to update via sips? Hardware we need to buy, app, etc? Thank you.

There was a comment about a guide for software updates so I thought I'd write it here where all the other info is

To connect to the car you need a Vehicle Diagnostic Interface (VDI), from what I've read a VDI2 or VDI3 for MG4, I personally ended up getting a VNCI due to supply issues, it's also substantually cheaper

it's recommended to update connected via USB but I have done some connected via WiFi which worked fine

They've been making changes though and the latest version of software requires a code to update and to get the code you need to fill out a form with which module and why you want to update, this then gets stored, a bit ott if you ask me
With this extra step it's unlikely that even dealerships will want to do any updates even if the car has issues
Imo it's a way to destroy the little customer support we have
Other companies give ota updates whereas mg make pointless updates as no one will ever get them

R46 adds the top bar in AA & CP

R59 stops top bar from being able to pull down in AA & CP, also breaks hotspot but adds route planner and ELK (LKA) shortcut

R63 fixes hotspot but DIY update stops programmable charge limit via the car, have to use app or charger to set limits (requires SIPS update to fix it)

Even with the MCU FICm at version 68.4.9.0 the R63 the charge limits don't appear and android auto don't work.

Are you talking about your car? On mine both work without an issue..
What car are we talking about exactly (MY22/23/24, STD/LUX/Trophy)?

If this is a speciality to your car please make a separate Thread, because with R63/R67 with Sips applied updates the Charge Bar and Android Auto are not an issue. With R67 even no more Bluetooth issues..

I suspect your dealer (assuming they did the updates) didn't do the SIPS configuration update. It's not just the MPU and MCU updates.

I was there today for a recall for the MG4 (lane assist) and to resolve the AC problem, they let r46, and update the rest. That SIPS and now the code/password is stup**.

Sorry but I can't help you.. this does not make sense and your dealer should fix this mess.. like why should he leave it on R46 but change the MCU for Infotainment to a R63/R67 version?
What do You mean with code? When it is about the Code in Sips.. the older Sips Version which is located here on the folder does work without any code.. I checked it myself.
But I will stop here now, as this thread has a different topic and as I don't understand what you want to do or need help for..

Sorry I was venting, yes that's how the new software is and it's idiotic but luckily the old software still works, so as long as you stick to the old software you'll be OK until they stop the old software from working which may never happen or it could happen next month
That's why I mentioned it, it's possible they could stop it, if you order an adapter and they do then it'd be pointless, so as a warning

Even my TV does OTA pff MG, all these updates should be free on a webpage no bullshit, when my car goes in for a service I won't even bother with the updates it is a pain in the ass and costs money, i like my trophy but i can't wait to see how the Tesla Model 2 shapes up.

This isn't true. Cars in Netherlands and Germany have received R67. This is your dealer trying to fool you.

no. Bought in Luxembourg. I'm a Portuguese, working on Luxembourg and living in Belgium. A true European.

I installed the R67 at home, except that thing that you can't change the maximum battery charge you want on the car (i change in the phone app), It works great.

Hello Halloweenhamster, it looks like you know what you're talking about and I could do with a bit of assistance. But firstly, I won't be doing any software updates myself as the dealer with MG Technical are trying to resolve the issue. If you know what the problem is, I can pass it on. At the moment they are scratching their collective heads
So, MidGe went in to the dealers for its first service in September and during that they updated the software, I'm not sure what the original version was, (MY 17-11-23) but after two updates to try and cure the fault of unpairing is now R67, which I was led to believe was a cure all version as commented elsewhere on the forum for all sorts of gremlins.
Before the updates the weather and location at top left of the infotainment screen worked OK, the only issue I had was the Bluetooth pairing dropping out, but was re-paired easily, syncing of contact list and recent calls worked fine. The Bluetooth pairing problem was the reason for the update.
After the first update, the weather and location had stopped working and the dealer kept it overnight so that they could get on the case first thing, when I picked the car up the next day, they hadn't been able to fix it. When I got home and paired the phone it paired OK but the syncing of contacts list wouldn't work. They escalated it to MG Technical for advice but as we were going on holiday I wanted the car back.
I arranged for the car to go back in after our holidays. I think MG asked them to update from R63 to 67, still the same, so MG gave them clearance to replace the FICM...which they ordered while we were on holiday and fitted on return. When I went to pick it up, the weather and location was working but before I left the dealers forecourt I paired my iPhone 12 mini and it paired OK...but it wouldn't sync the contacts list. I called the technician over to the car and he was puzzled. He went into the engineering mode and all was OK. He tried his Android phone and it paired and synced without a hitch. I retried my phone but just the same outcome. When I got home I tried my wife's iPhone 12 mini and it paired and synced no problem, but noticed the weather and location had stopped working again. We are both running iOS 18.7 which is the latest phone software. The car is going back in on the 3rd of November and they are going to go as far as disconnecting the battery, and are getting MG involved, they have already unbound the iSmart app for some reason, I'm checking this out with the dealers, as it is over a week before the car goes in, why have they MG, unbound now.
I have been on to Apple Support to see if there is something wrong with my phone and have carried out there requests and checks to no clue as to why my phone doesn't sync contacts and my wife's phone does. It's been escalated to a senior level and I'm expecting a call from them tomorrow from someone in our time zone.
It's really puzzling as to why my phone did sync before all this, but doesn't now, and other phones sync without a problem.
So, if you have any incites as to what is going on, I'd be pleased to hear from you.

Tbh I've not heard of anyone having contact sync issues and as you say, as another iPhone works as well as android it sounds a little odd
Only thing I can suggest is trying an old version like R46 (oldest we have a copy of) originally you would have likely had R40, see it it works again

Thanks for the advice, I didn’t know you could go back in versions, I’ll pass it on to the dealer, who are being very helpful, it happened under warranty so no cost to me…thankfully, meanwhile iSMART remains inoperable as it has been unbound by MG, I don’t follow that move.
I’m expecting a call today from Apple, so we’ll see what they come up with.

The other day I couldn't resist the temptation and did the R67 update .
Everything went well, it was very easy.
But I noticed that 68.3.80 did not change .
