    MG4 reliability

My post #7 said... I'm puzzled why you would think that going on holiday, working abroad, changing taxation date or driving a Cyberster would not apply if said owner had a vehicle of 2022+ 🤷‍♀️ In fact, I don't think you could even have a Cyberster registered before 2022?

And in my case, I wanted to adjust the renewal tax month to March, so SORN'd it this month and, as a bonus, saved £16.25 in the process (y)

Should we get more home battery capacity?

Unless your cells are widely out of balance, then limiting the charger's voltage to equal John's suggestion of equivalent of 75%-80% SOC voltage should be fine. It is highly unlikely than an individual cell would trigger a BMS cell overvoltage condition (e.g. > 3.65V) if the 16S pack is being...

Should we get more home battery capacity?

IMHO, no. For reasons mentioned in my posting below... Better to have an adjustable supply, as @johnb80 mentioned - see my link in post #24. Or telecoms PSU such as Eltec Flatpack, Emerson or Chargeverter. https://www.mgevs.com/threads/solar-battery-and-v2l.20084/post-371810 Provided the...

Charging problem on Pre facelift MG5

@rpannell was referring to voltage, rather than power. It can be an issue for some users (e.g. @Montego as detailed in the thread below). It could be that other households on the same phase as you have recently added EVSE and pulled your local voltage down. As well as testing without...

Charging problem on Pre facelift MG5

Sounds like a good plan. Hopefully the car is OK if it works with the granny, unless the fault is specific to charging at a greater rate than the granny can provide. Has anything else changed, especially with regard to your power supply, that coincided with the failures? e.g. have you had...

Charging problem on Pre facelift MG5

Do you have a granny charger to test it from? Does it work at an AC slow charger at a supermarket? Doing those tests should help pinpoint whether the issue is with the car vs. your Zappi (or OE).
  16. Everest

Should we get more home battery capacity?

I agree, but there could be a caveat in that as Rolfe's installer said it is not possible it could be that Rolfe's system uses HV batteries, rather than standard 15S or 16S "nominal 48V" low voltage system. As far as I can see, Givenergy have both LV and HV systems 🤷‍♀️

System fault - stopped in a live lane of the motorway

You say the AA checked the 12V battery and found no faults - do you know if they just measured the open-circuit voltage or did they use some load test equipment on it (hopefully, the latter). If so, I'd say its unlikely to be the 12V battery, from the symptoms you've described. Having said...

The solution that I and others (e.g. @johnb80) have detailed on other threads - assuming you have standard low-voltage (nominal 48V) system is to charge / top up your home storage batteries via an adjustable telecoms-type power supply from V2L output of the MG. e.g. as discussed in the thread...

    EV Chargers

Agree with the principle, especially the P.S.. But even if you have all those proposals in place, the rapid charging companies will still have costs to meet, loans to pay off and staff to pay and need to make a profit, so will not be able to sell their services for the cost price of electrons.
  57. Everest

Jan was rubbish month for solar

Not really. If there is nowhere for the power to go an inverter will reduce its solar input.
