charging

A charging station, also called an EV charger or electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE), is a piece of equipment that supplies electrical power for charging plug-in electric vehicles (including hybrids, neighborhood electric vehicles, trucks, buses, and others).
Although batteries can only be charged with DC power, most electric vehicles have an onboard AC-to-DC converter that allows them to be plugged into a standard household AC electrical receptacle. Inexpensive low-power public charging stations will also provide AC power, known as "AC charging stations". To facilitate higher power charging, which requires much larger AC-to-DC converters, the converter is built into the charging station instead of the vehicle, and the station supplies already-converted DC power directly to the vehicle, bypassing the vehicle's onboard converter. These are known as "DC charging stations". Most fully electric car models can accept both AC and DC power.
Charging stations provide connectors that conform to a variety of standards. DC charging stations are commonly equipped with multiple connectors to be able to supply a wide variety of vehicles.
Public charging stations are typically found street-side or at retail shopping centers, government facilities, and other parking areas.

Can the car be locked using the app while it's charging?

I did a rather silly thing last week. I got to the multi-storey car park near the theatre, and connected the car up to one of the type 2 chargers there. I reached into the back seat for handbag and stuff, closed the rear passenger door, and forgot to press the door button on the driver's door...

    Charging at motorway service stations

Following a great first long trip to Harrogate for the fully charged show I have found a few grippes about the state of our motorway service stations. It seems that below Leeds rapid chargers seem to not be present at some of our service stations. M1, Strensham Southbound, has no chargers as...

    Charging noises

I did a search of this forum before posting but couldn’t find the answer, but I’m fascinated by the clunking noises being made when the car is charging. Does anyone know what they’re all about? I imagine some are the locking mechanism but there seems to be others too.

    ZS EV SR SOH

Hi everyone, Our 22 SR with 8k miles is now showing 94.45 % SOH. It has only been AC charged, frequently to 100% and not left at a low or high SOC. Now the weather is warmer I was expecting the GOM estimate to increase, however the best is 193 miles heater off and trip reset. I have never...

    Charging speed poor

Fast charge charging rate - on 10 occasions I have specifically tested fast charge rates on Grid Serve, IONITY, BP and Shell charging stations. This follow complaints from my daughter that fast charging takes for ever. The maximum charge rate has never been above 37kW. The car is rated at 76kW...
