charging

A charging station, also called an EV charger or electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE), is a piece of equipment that supplies electrical power for charging plug-in electric vehicles (including hybrids, neighborhood electric vehicles, trucks, buses, and others).
Although batteries can only be charged with DC power, most electric vehicles have an onboard AC-to-DC converter that allows them to be plugged into a standard household AC electrical receptacle. Inexpensive low-power public charging stations will also provide AC power, known as "AC charging stations". To facilitate higher power charging, which requires much larger AC-to-DC converters, the converter is built into the charging station instead of the vehicle, and the station supplies already-converted DC power directly to the vehicle, bypassing the vehicle's onboard converter. These are known as "DC charging stations". Most fully electric car models can accept both AC and DC power.
Charging stations provide connectors that conform to a variety of standards. DC charging stations are commonly equipped with multiple connectors to be able to supply a wide variety of vehicles.
Public charging stations are typically found street-side or at retail shopping centers, government facilities, and other parking areas.

    Measuring charging efficiency

Hi all. My ZS has done about 12k km, and is averaging 16.5 kWh per 100km (6.1km/kWh, or 3.8 mi/kWh). That's calculated from the energy in as measured by my EO charger. I've not reset my cumulative trip counter for a while, and that says I'm using 14.4 kWh per 100km. So this tells me that my...

All MG EVs should be recalled because of the charging problems

There is an issue that some some chargers cause some MGs to throw fault codes and be immobilized. Some roadside solutions sometimes work but if it strikes be prepared for a trip in a recovery vehicle. MG Tech seem to be overwhelmed, pretty poor and very hard to get hold of. MG dealers are...

Automatic Battery Swaps instead of charging

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-61310513 What are people's thoughts on these Automatic Battery Swaps for EV's. Is this the future or a pointless exercise ? It seems to me to be a bit pointless. As battery technology improves, range will improve, and presumably charging times will decrease...

MG5 LR AC Charging - does it stop automatically when full?

As per the title. I'll be astonished if the answer is no, yet I can't find confirmation of this anywhere, so just checking. My assumption is that if I leave it on either a slow or fast charger overnight, it will charge the battery, perform its equalisation thingy, then stop without any...
