sat nav
A satellite navigation or satnav system is a system that uses satellites to provide autonomous geo-spatial positioning. It allows satellite navigation devices to determine their location (longitude, latitude, and altitude/elevation) to high precision (within a few centimetres to metres) using time signals transmitted along a line of sight by radio from satellites. The system can be used for providing position, navigation or for tracking the position of something fitted with a receiver (satellite tracking). The signals also allow the electronic receiver to calculate the current local time to a high precision, which allows time synchronisation. These uses are collectively known as Positioning, Navigation and Timing (PNT). Satnav systems operate independently of any telephonic or internet reception, though these technologies can enhance the usefulness of the positioning information generated.
A satellite navigation system with global coverage may be termed a global navigation satellite system (GNSS). As of September 2020, the United States' Global Positioning System (GPS), Russia's Global Navigation Satellite System (GLONASS), China's BeiDou Navigation Satellite System, and the European Union's Galileo are fully operational GNSSs. Japan's Quasi-Zenith Satellite System (QZSS) is a (US) GPS satellite-based augmentation system to enhance the accuracy of GPS, with satellite navigation independent of GPS scheduled for 2023. The Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System (IRNSS) plans to expand to a global version in the long term.Global coverage for each system is generally achieved by a satellite constellation of 18–30 medium Earth orbit (MEO) satellites spread between several orbital planes. The actual systems vary, but all use orbital inclinations of >50° and orbital periods of roughly twelve hours (at an altitude of about 20,000 kilometres or 12,000 miles).
Hi everyone. Picked up my ZS trophy long range on Wednesday and I love it.
Apologies, because I bet this has been mentioned before but my sat nav doesn't seem to be working. The dealership put my home address into the destination favourites but when I press on it, the screen shows my current...
Hey
I know there has been talk about the sat nav maps being out of date. In London over the last year or so there has been a large number of roads blocked near schools and to cut traffic down in side streets.
I am wondering if anyone in London has noticed the maps being unusable if they are...
Is there anyway the brightness on sat nav screen on the LR ZS can be increased, mine looks like it is in night mode permanently.
I have been through the settings without success.
I would welcome advice please on how to delete obsolete addresses from my HS PHEV Exclusive that I purchased in July last year.
I have looked at the information in the book provided but can’t seem to raise the screen that’s shown in there under ‘with a planned route ‘ which then shows option 4...
Is there an upgrade or can one be purchased because current system does not give any indication of delays or issues on planned route ahead or suggest alternative routes like most other Sat Nav systems on modern cars.
Can anyone guide me where to find the sat nav dead reckoning setting on SR Trophy please.I checked all nav settings and general settings but couldnt find it.
Hi all
Got my new ZS EV Trophy a couple of weeks ago but I can’t get the sat nav to work - has anyone encountered any issues in this regard? I’m worried I’m doing something stupid!!
Hi all,
Any one with the face lift having problems with the built in sat nav. When I start the car the location is right. But when I start driving it doesn't show any movement on the map. I use carplay so not a big deal but wondered if anyone has had similar issues and if they managed to fix...
I was on a 40 mile journey today and it was very strange.I
noticed that if my sat nav in the car is on and my phone is connected to the car via bluetooth and If my navigation on phone(google maps to get live traffic) is on too at the same time, its messing up the sat nav in the car(I did not...
I love Sat Nav on cars and use it all the time. The system on my MG5LR is not the best - lots of information but I find fiddly to use, but I will persevere. But can anyone tell me how I zoom out so I can see the next junction? I know I can move my fingers across the screen but this then moves to...
Can, and if so how, can I change the sat nav direction to always face North and not the true direction please. Ie so the ‘arrow‘ and direction of travel is facing north/up. mg5 Sr
