Cleaning Matte Green Paint.

Just turned 1500 miles.

Not a mark, chip, or scratch anywhere.
Decent paint from the factory then 👍
Used Turtle Wax for the wash today,
then a silicone blade to remove excess water, followed by a microfibre towel to finish.

My dealer told me that MG supply washing instructions with the cars with matt paint, so I guess that wasn't true then?

I appreciate I'm a little late to this discussion but here is a link to a variety of cleaning products for a Matte finish. I know the Stjarnagloss Matta car shampoo is recommended

So, if you followed this thread, you will have read that I was a bit reluctant to use Autoglym Aquawax, despite reading on their own website that it was fine for Matte Paint.

Well, I bit the bullet today and covered the whole car in it.
Paint, glass, trim, wheels, all of it.

Really pleased with the result.
A breeze to apply, and easy to remove.

First wash since the last time I posted!

So my routine now, if your interested.....

1, Very thorough jet wash.
2, Snow foam.
3, Cup of T.
4, Thorough rinse off, using jet wash.
5, Two caps of Turtlewax in a 10 litre bucket. (preferably with a grit guard)
6, Wash, using mitt of your choice.
(I use a separate mitt for wheels and bottom edges of car all round, and I do them last)
7, Jet wash off.

No here's the beauty of Aquawax....
With the car still wet, go around the whole car with Aquawax.
(Avoiding the windscreen)Thanks Ian.

Have at least two microfibre cloths ready.
Use the first one to rub in the Aquawax.
As it soaks up the water, just wring it out.
Do this with the whole car.

As long as you keep wringing out the cloth, the car starts to dry.

Then go around again with a new, dry microfibre cloth.
It may look like it's smearing, but it drys beautifully.

Stand back and admire.

Really impressed with the product and It saved me a good chunk of time as well.

Update, 2600 miles in.

Still no marks, chips or scratches anywhere.
I had to spend 10 minutes removing lots of tar spots. (I did this after washing, but before final rinse)
Halfords Bug and Tar remover made light work of them.

I can't recommend Aquawax enough.

Just the fact that you can spray it on all the surfaces means you save lots of time.
Not faffing about with, something for the paint, something else for the glass, something else for the trim etc etc etc.

Looking good @Bricktop1967 . The more of you lot showing off your green makes me question the grey I've got on order. Particularly seeing as someone seems to have a grey a few streets away from me now

No, don't worry @Seaton91.
I've seen Camden Grey in the flesh.
It's a really nice colour 👍

Looks good with the Aqua Wax.
You've got me interested so just had a look an the Autoglym site and the video says "Apply sparingly to all surfaces excluding the windscreen"

Comes up lovely!!

If my wipers start skipping, I've got something I can use. Rain X.
It's raining for the next few days here, so when I go out it will be interesting to see what actually happens.

I've heard Windolene gives a nice shine to windscreens.
You can't see bugger all when driving into the sun and when it's raining the multi-coloured streaks are mesmerising..... but at least it's shiny 🤣

Went out today in the pouring rain and having Aquawax on the windscreen made the wipers the quietest they have ever been!
No smearing, no skipping.
Just a nice clean, sweep.

3500 miles in, and a thorough inspection wash today.

Still amazed that I don't have a single mark, scratch or chip anywhere.

Particularly careful where I park and at least a 4-5 seconds gap when following any traffic must have something to do with it.

I rarely use ACC in traffic as even when selecting its biggest gap, it's still too close for my liking.

Still perfect paint.
No chips, scratches or bird lime stains.👍
Nearly 4000 miles in.

OK, so probably 60 odd tar spots to remove, but that is all.

Now, are the tar spots in fact molten rubber due to the warp speed acceleration?🤣🤣

Or in fact tar?

I only ask because I was sure tar spots were more of a summer problem??

I could probably ask Google, but we might have a Road Surface engineer in our ranks?
