Had the Dreaded 12V Battery Drain Overnight

It is not the locking that causes the issue it is that if you have left the car powered up and then lock it the car powers down and then locks. I suspect in most cars it is the opening of a door with the lights on after the car is not powered that triggers an audible warning but with the power down and lock of the MG that trigger does not occur.

You may want to leave the ar with the lights on for a short while in a badly lit situation as @pjmmk posted earlier.

It would be interesting to know what happens with other EVs. (I can check with someone who has a Cupra.)

I cannot blame the MG4 programmer; we spend a lot of time complaining about wanting the ability to manually control things but then expect the car to rectify if we forget to give control back to the car. And complain when it does (eg regen settings etc).

I have the Trophy and they are not all LED. Headlights are designed to stay on if you set them to be manually on (as I described).
I have the trophy and the only incandescent lamps are the indicators, the reversing lights, the fog lights and interior light, the headlights and parking lights are all LED (see the manual page 277).
My headlights don't stay on when set to manual and the car turned off.
Check closely in the headlamp cluster, you'll see that it's the DRLs that are lit when you turn the car off, not the headlamps.

Right, so not all the lights are LED as I said, so draining the 12V battery is a definite possibility.

Ah, you are right about that, I hadn't noticed it was the DRLs.

I don't use that but IIRC don't you have to initiate that with the dip/main beam stalk ?
You have to power down the car via the menu buttons, then flick the stalk to initiate the follow me home function. Most cars just keep the lights on for a few minutes after locking the car. I feel MG's way is convoluted for no apparent reason.

If you leave the hazards (indicators), the interior light and the fog light on I suppose :giggle: (although I'd guess the latter will go off with the headlights).
