It is not the locking that causes the issue it is that if you have left the car powered up and then lock it the car powers down and then locks. I suspect in most cars it is the opening of a door with the lights on after the car is not powered that triggers an audible warning but with the power down and lock of the MG that trigger does not occur.
You may want to leave the ar with the lights on for a short while in a badly lit situation as @pjmmk posted earlier.
It would be interesting to know what happens with other EVs. (I can check with someone who has a Cupra.)
I cannot blame the MG4 programmer; we spend a lot of time complaining about wanting the ability to manually control things but then expect the car to rectify if we forget to give control back to the car. And complain when it does (eg regen settings etc).
