a good news

MG introduced the Cyberster concept at the Shanghai Auto Show and now the company has announced the roadster is going into production after reaching its crowdfunding goal.

In a Weibo post, the automaker said the “project was formally approved” and preparations for production are already underway. MG went on to say the “dream sports car” will follow the principles of “high restoration, co-creation, and faster speed.”

There’s no word on when the production model will arrive, but the Cyberster concept was a stylish two-seat roadster that featured a curvaceous hood as well as Magic Eye headlights that opened when activated.

Other notable highlights included a short windscreen, aerodynamic side skirts, and LED “laser belts” that cut through the front fenders and doors. Designers also gave the model muscular rear haunches, stylish rollover hoops and a “kamm tail” with an illuminated MG logo. Rounding out the highlights were a large diffuser and Union Jack-inspired LED taillights.

The stylish design continued in the cabin as the concept was equipped with a curved digital instrument cluster and a yoke-like steering wheel. They were joined by two-tone leather seats, which were separated by a flying buttress topped with a minimalist infotainment system.

MG hasn’t released detailed performance specifications, but has previously said the concept rides on an electric architecture and has a range of 497 miles (800 km). The company also claimed the car was capable of accelerating from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in less than three seconds.
